As an aside I finally got the chance to meet Geoff May after the superbike event Saturday. I was wearing one of my EBR Homecoming shirts and that caught his attention. Given it was a "work weekend" for him, he was very generous with his time. I asked him if he was possibly one of the test riders that put the first 1000 miles on my prototype SX, and he said no. He was involved in the RS development, and a bit of the RX but by the time the SX was in testing, he was on the road racing for the factory all the time. Side Note: There may not be much to it at this point but he did mention a (somewhat recent) conversation with Bill Melvin about restarting a Buell sponsored race team. For Geoff, the timing wasn't right as he is on the Vision Wheel/Discount Tire/KWS Honda for the near future. Whether the re-branded Buell motorcycles gets (back) into road racing racing remains to be seen. I have no clue how much money it takes to run a team in a series like Moto-America, but it's nice to know they're considering it. |

It looked like Jake was lifting his front wheel at the exit of every turn. A sight to behold, or to be holding ON if it was me! I hear Jake's going to be running a WSBK event in the near future from a little bird. Is that public news yet? I had a brief conversation with Geoff at Barber a number of years ago when he was racing his 1190RS in the "money race" during the AHRMA weekend there. Two things were memorable; I rolled up on my RS and one of his crew called out "Hey Geoff! Your parts bike is here!" And then when I mentioned that I lived only a few miles from IDS (Tim Blomenberg), Geoff asked if I had Tim perform a custom tune on my RS. I hadn't and Geoff looked at me funny and asked "Why NOT??" |

Love Geoff May! What a gentleman. Get to chit chat at Daytona every year. I supported his 'May Day' privateer Daytona run several years back. It was very cool. He had all our names on his lower fairings. |

Absolutely fact . . . . . one of the classiest and personable guys to ever get on a motorcycle. |

When Eslick and May were teammates riding the EBR, who would have thought that Geoff May would be racing long than Eslick? Not me. I am still wondering what Eslick did that got him blacklisted. He does seem to like the Coors Light quite a bit. Anyhow, I remember during an autograph session when both were riding the EBR, I had a hat I wanted both of them to sign. Danny signed it first and literaly took up the entire brim with his signature. Then he handed it to Geoff to sign. Geoff kinda chuckled to himself and found a small corner of the brim and signed the hat. Teammates. LOL. |

Eslick has been riding American Flat Track and also a bagger at select MotoAmerica events. |

Eslick can't get a ride in a real MA class (baggers doesn't count.) There seems to be more to his story since he has a decent name in the paddock and is fast enough to still be racing. |

Eslick has been flat tracking as long as I can remember. I’m pretty sure he was doing it when Nicky Haden was. |

Is JD Beach still doing flat-track? That was one defection from the MA paddock that seemed to choose flat track over road racing... |

Good for him. He was always a paddock favorite. |

GREAT races this weekend. Fun hanging out with Steeleagle and I'm sorry not to see Smoke, but I can understand why he wasn't here this weekend. The rain held off Sunday for the Superbike race and it was a doozy. Of course, Jake did his "Jake thing" but the real excitement was what went on behind him. This one is going all the way to Barber! |

Wow. Sounds like Ducati doesn't seem to think they can be beaten fairly! https://www.roadracingworld.com/news/motoamerica-r occo-landers-yamaha-ruled-legal-after-ducati-prote st/ |

Interesting. I wonder how Ducati would have any idea what is inside the Yamaha engine. |

I was a little suspicious about Landers R6 too. Suddenly the last 2 events he is able to out accelerate the GSXR750's and Herrin's Panigale V2. Something's been changed on his Yamaha R6. |

According to the officials, the parts specifically protested by Ducati are legal. Maybe they upgraded to the legal race kit camshaft from something else? |

That article also points out another "dick move" by that team. After Petrucci hit Peterson forcing him off the track, they tried to have Peterson sanctioned for riding outside the track boundaries!! |

If the protest is unfounded are there repercussions to the Ducati team? I saw something about a $1,500 fee to appeal the decision, but I would hope there is something in the rules to make a team think twice about protesting. The NHL now makes a protesting team shorthanded for 2 minutes if the protested call is not overturned(ie they lose the challenge.) It has definitely lessened the frequency of challenges. |

Unfortunately, I'm going to miss the races in NJMP this year as I will be up in Vermont camping. I'll have to catch the races on the DVR when I get back. Looks like the weather this weekend should be perfect for both camping AND Road Racing. GO JAKE!!! |

Looks like Barber's going to be for all the marbles! Ducati isn't taking any chances... they're providing another Panigale V4 so newly-crowned Supersport Champ Josh Herrin will be competing alongside Petrucci so it won't be "Danilo vs. Yamaha." Right now I think his only hope, though, is to pray for rain! When Jake is on form, it doesn't look like ANYONE can hang with him for long. |

The large assumption here is that Herrin will be able to jump on a different bike in a different class and be a factor at the front. |

All things considered, that's not bad. There are competitors that have been on the same bike for YEARS who are lucky to finish in the top ten... |

Looks like CamBee is coming back to MotoAmerica, but racing a BMW M1000RR instead of a Yamaha YZF-R1 next year. PJ showed the bike is finally becoming competitive, just in time to lose his ride for next year. |

Just read the decision to come back to MotoAmerica was his, and not the team's. He realized that at 30 it wasn't likely he'd ever be called up to the premiere class, so he decided to just come back home. |
