Pulease. Aggressive racing and what Marc "Dive Bob" Marquez is doing is not the same. Again, running into corners so hot that you have no chance in hell of making the corner without bouncing off another bike is plain ludicrous.
Three penalties in one race. Yeah defensible. Not.
Ignoring race direction/riding the wrong way.
Running into a rider.
Crashing Rossi.
Marquez is one of the best all time. He rides the Honda like Stoner rode the Ducati, but only fanboys can defend him at this point.
PS, if you actually watch WSBK lately its mostly processional (like GP was a few years ago.) Five years ago it was the best racing, but MotoGP has taken over as the most compelling in terms of equipment, racing and of course drama.
And for the life of me I can't remember any WSBK riders making a habit of running into his competition on a routine basis.
The most head scratching part is MM is usually fast enough to win races without the dirty ass tactics, but be's too stupid to realize it.
I'm not sure what races you're watching... but anyways... whatever.
Yeah, Marquez is stupid all right... like a fox going to the bank. So stupid in fact, that he's now paid more than Rossi or anybody else for that matter.
Yes, Assen always produces good races--although I haven't been able to catch up to those Assen races on the DVR yet. Track layout. No monster straights to string the field out. Much like Laguna Seca. Have you watched the rest of the WSBK races this year? Snooze fests.
LOL. You are really going to talk about salary? Irrelevant to the argument whether hes a douche canoe or not.
Not sure about that claim. Maybe the most hated property in the sport? I'll go with that.
No doubt about his bike skills. One of the best of all time. For some reason he reminds me of Stoner on the Ducati both in the approach to riding the two bikes and the fact that no matter how skillful, they are both generally disliked by the masses.
Too bad about Lorenzo not paying attention, causing a 3 way wreck...
Exactly the same thing Marquez got penalized for during qualifying in COTA - not having eyes in the back of his head. But, hell I guess that's just how racing goes if your name isn't Marquez.
Nothing is really the same between the incidents. As you indicated, Marquez was in qualifying but he was touring on the racing line. The crash yesterday was simply a racing incident. Yeah, Lorenzo could have been more aware of where Pedrosa was probably gonna be and taken a better look before diving down, but again I agree with race direction that it was a racing incident.
When you are touring in qualifying you must not impede other riders. That's why you see guys looking over their shoulders when doing so. Marquez was being a tool and impeded another rider on a hot lap.
The Lorenzo incident was a racing incident. pure and simple.
You are reaching big time trying to say they are the same thing.
Two people who can't see out the back of their heads.
Same thing, different circumstance. Not a reach at all. So Dorna decides to f*ck up Marquez's perfect pole position record... ok fine, they can't do anything about the win.
Yep. I thought "oh he's f'ed" as I saw him hit the bike. Then when he bunny hopped the bike and stayed vertical I thought "S@##, he might make it." Then when he rode away I thought "Damn, that's one of the best saves ever!"
From your video, I see the belly pan worked as a perfect ramp over the bike. Likely, if he hit anywhere else on the bike he's going down. Luck and skill at work right there.
Moto3 is very entertaining. I watch Moto3 and MotoGP. Hard to believe those are 250s going over 140 MPH. Don't production 250s make like 25 HP? Astounding.
I actually got time to watch the video, Jamie. First time since I saw it on the telecast. I got chills watching that save. And he wasn't as vertical as I thought he was. That rear dug in perfectly! Motocross training actually paid off right there.
