Just in case you haven't been following, the Bottpower guys from Spain who build a street tracker chassis that works with Buell XB running gear and engines, competed in today's race. The bike was built with an XBRR (!!!) engine: Here's a photo of the crew during practice earlier this week:
Here's rider Travis Newbold during one of the practice sessions:
Here's the partially disassembled bike showing that massive XBRR mill. Note that they had to develop special offset intake manifolds so that the throttle bodies would clear the massive single backbone tube of the frame:
SPOILER ALERT Looks like the #747 finished first in their class and forth overall among the motorcycles with an overall time of 10:28:552. Considering their competition was Ducatis, Aprilias and KTM's, that's pretty freaking impressive. Read more here: http://bottpower.com/pikes-peak-project/ |

XBRR Buell engine!!! Here is the wrap up... ""If you want to see more photos, please check our Flickr gallery. This is what Travis said after the race: “I am very happy to have raced the BOTT XR1R to a big class win and 4th overall motorcycle up the mountain. We worked very hard through multiple challenges and minimal time testing and I am very proud of our finish. All the bikes finishing in front of us had not only factory support but much more practice both on the mountain and before the race so I feel that we are very glorious victors indeed!”"" VIDEO 11 minutes of Pikrs Peak run. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHMCH6xtkMc BOTT Web SIte http://bottpower.com/pikes-peak-project-chapter-ei ght/ |
