Videos posted to her FB page, and shared on the EBR page. Doesn't say how fast she went, only that it's the fastest 1/4 that she has ever done. And she says that her previous record 1/4 was 6.86 https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=6921598675648 05 |

George Brice, Kosman Chassis, S&S, Angelle, and EBR badging. THAT will put EBR in front of MILLIONS of people that never saw EBR before. Now go kick some Harley ass!!! |

So how "loosely based" on the 1190 motor platform is this thing? What displacement do they run in Pro-Stock? Does it have any actual EBR parts??? I was looking through previous posts on Angelle's page and saw a brief note that last year's bike was an S&S Buell motor, for sale at a bargain price of $89,000. |

I've never seen a drag race where the time was "confidential information" . . . all of the events I've attended kinda had the time posted, in 12' tall numbers, all over the track. Must be research. |

Neil the engine they are using is the S&S billet motor it is 160 cu in with the cylinders at 60 degrees. The body and frame are Kosman products out of the Bay area the body work is loosely based on XB9 parts but nothing interchangeble. It was designed and put together by George Brice of Star Racing S&S does all the drive train and Kosman doing the rolling chassis. I think the tranny is based on Kawasaki KZ parts but only in a very basic way. Last price I heard was about $150,000 and I think that is with 2 motors. In some ways this motor is closer to a Harley design that the Vance and Hines bikes. The cams are the same design as a Sportster, yes it has pushrods. |

Regardless of what it developed from, engine, chassis, etc., I believe it is a way to put the EBR name in front of millions of Pro stock viewers and I will be rooting for Angelle to do well. Time posted seems great to start with and she should be as competitive as she always has been. I've always enjoyed when Buell logoed bikes beat the HD's in the finals. Bob |

Ditto . . . .that may be why the time was secret . . .this may, in fact, be testing. Let concede . . . . as much as I dig watching a Buell or an EBR kick a Harley's butt . . .that there is not a single part in common with anything you can buy. She's one hell of a rider . . . |

I did some googling and found some of the same information since my earlier post, and some of the normal bickering about # of valves/cylinders/displacements in the comments on several posts/articles on the subject of NHRA Pro Stock bikes. Not sure how many fans will get exposed to the EBR name through all of this, but it's gotta be a lot, so I say, go for it! If an EBR or Buell branded bike beats a Harley or Suzuki branded bike, I like it. |

this may, in fact, be testing. It is, in fact, testing. And not just a fresh bike, either. Angelle Sampey has been rehabilitating after a freak pit accident last fall. As far as I've been able to tell by following her Facebook page recently, this test was her first time back on a drag bike. Pretty damn impressive all around in my book! I know there is zilch in common between the EBR in my garage and this EBR inspired drag bike but that won't stop me from smiling when I hear 'EBR beats Harley-Davidson'! 1313 |

I was just at the drags in Phoenix. I was amazed how good the announcers are and how many times them mention the equipment, sponsors, talk about the riders, etc. For name recognition, this may be an unbeatable opportunity. |

Don't get me mixed up with someone that is complaining about if this is a real Buell or not. There is not a single bike in any pro class that has much to do with the product that is sold on the street except maybe pro street and then not much. If someone wants to pay a LOT of money they have the right to call the bike anything they want. There is a lot of crying on the oriental side of the camp about how much more stock there bike is. Well sort of The 2 valve Suzuki that is raced is based on a 1 year only, 1983 I think, GS 1100E that was a failure in the market place and the reason everyone races that is because of the weight break. |

That is an NHRA Pro Stock bike. They run at all but two of the NHRA series races. Tens of Thousands attend each race, plus they get good TV coverage, hence the exposure to millions of fans worldwide who watch on TV. Drag racing is one venue where age and experience count. It is tough to set the bikes up, and they in spite of all appearances are hard to ride properly. Missing a shift point by a few hundred RPM means a loss. And yes, there is little in common between an NHRA Pro Stock bike and an EBR, Buell, Harley, Suzuki, Kawasaki, or Triumph. Recently, a team campaigned a "Triumph" which was a "Buell" purchased from another team, and re-decaled as Triumph. The similarities between a Buell or EBR bike and a production bike are both are twin cylinders, and both run on gasoline. The S&S engines are truly brutes, but if my memory is still good, I believe the transmissions are Suzuki GS based. I could be wrong. It has been a few years now since I quit drag racing. George Brice is a smart fellow. And one hell of a nice guy. Back in the day, they used to come to Orlando Speed World in the off season. They would outrun you, and then tell you how they did it, and sell you the parts you needed to go faster. |

I see that Matt Smith and his wife Angie are going to ride Victory motorcycles this year. http://www.dragbike.com/dbnews/templates/fast1320_ z13.aspx?articleid=36004&zoneid=13 Looks like a S&S motor in a Kosman chassis with different bodywork. This I think is the first set of different bodywork on the former Buell pro stock bike. This is really good when Erik Buell and either Smith from S&S or George Brice from Star Racing approached the NHRA a year or 2 ago about using EBR 1190 based body parts it was rejected hopefully now Angelle will be on an EBR and not a Buell. |

The new body work looks great and Angelle's record speaks for itself, but it ain't going to sell any EBRs. They've been running the XB bodied bike for ever, wonder how many people went out and bought one after watching the races??? NHRA is run for the cars, they put the bikes on so the crowds can go take a leak and stock up on hotdogs.lol I think they needed new bodywork to be allowed to continue running NHRA, there's a time limit on bikes being out of production. Hence all the suzukis looking like busas or GSXR1000s. We've got a few "Buells" this side of the pond and they've done very well. In fact Sovereign -Mr Bryce's sponsor the last couple of years- originally raced a bike in Europe. But being so far from assistance is tough when you have a bike that needs constant attention. I wish them well and would love one myself, but the only people taking any notice are people like us...Drag Racers !!! |

EBR would have sold more bikes by giving Littlebutquick Joe a new 1190 to race. It would have been loads cheaper too! |

Nigel(Battyone), I believe the idea of all lettering on any race vehicle is just to draw attention to THE NAME. Then people start researching "what the heck is an EBR, Killians Red, etc, etc." It has proven to work for sales and by how ridiculous many ads on the tele are just to make you remember THE NAME. And repeating many times is a key. Hopefully THE NAME will be in front of the camera a bunch. Thanks for your input mate. Bob |

Court - while not your "typical" drag racing, in grudge racing no time is shown, only a win light. But, while at, usually, sanctioned events, these are mostly just street races with thousands on the line and WAY TOO MUCH smack talking before any racing takes place. Sucks. |

Bob, I'm sure the "Name" will be in front of the camera most of the time while the pro stockers are running. Just the same as the "BUELL" name has for the past 10 years or so. I wish them the best of luck. But you need to put it in front of people who are buying motorcycles and unfortunately the overwhelming majority of drag racing fans are car guys and gals - or crash junkies!!! You only have to compare the spectator numbers between an NHRA event and a bike only event.Even here in the UK,when the big cars are out, it's standing room only. At the bike only meets it's a ghost town. I bought an 1125 because Joe proved how reliable the helicon motor was for drag racing. Not because of any hype. And I didn't win the lottery this weekend so I won't be buying Angelle's old bike. Crying into my coffee !!! |

It's like John Force switching from Ford to Chevy this year. Zero Ford or Chevy parts. Mostly a change in decals. Or Toyota stickers on a Top Fuel Dragster. |

I've seen a Buell, Harley, and Suzuki in person, I work at Vance and Hines. The Harleys are built in house, Buells are s&s, Suzuki is based off the GS and we also build those motors. Zero parts are shared between them and almost everything is one off hand made |
