What, no one drag races anymore? Haven't seen a new post since April. Where'd everyone go? |

Still running my 86 Sportster but then again this is a Buell website so I don't think anything I do with a 4 speed Sportster means a whole lot. It could also be because drag racing motorcycles seams to be on a downward spiral. The 2 biggest motorcycle sanctioning bodies closed up 2 and 3 years ago and nothing on the national level has arisen to take its place. Now if you are speaking of Buell in particular I wonder how many people who were racing 1125's have given up because they felt they were . (Message edited by 46champ on September 11, 2014) |

I have had to take a step back due to school. But my plan is to get back in it heavy in approximately eight months - I'll be graduated and wont be able to start teaching job until August, so that'll free up some time |

Probably right 46champ about the downward spiral in participation. Kind of a cyclical thing. Hopefully when the economy turns around that'll change. We have a pretty good turnout at our track here in Iowa. There was 4 of us racing 1125's at the end of last year, 3 at the beginning of this year. Two have switched to Busa's, one quit coming and the other one's gone land speed racing. I bought a hayabusa so my 1125cr's for sale. |

Where at? Earlville? I've run mine once in Cedar Falls. Thinking I'm going to make an 1/8th pass in Humboldt soon. |

BTW, that's my daily ride, 85+ K miles... Bracket racing, so I ran a 13.357 on a 13.30 dial in to win. Hoping to take my #3 Buell racing all next season :-) |

I'll enjoy my own little corner of the world, bracket racing is my "speed", but I do plan on lowering those times... LOL! Here's a concept photo of my play bike, I have 90% of the bike, so it should look pretty close to this when complete...

Yup, I'm pretty sure I want wheelie bars. Where's the most common place to mount them on a tuber? |

I had a big off may 2013 and broke my back. Not super serious, but I'll never be quite right and probably always in a lot of pain. Have been back on the track, but certainly not fit enough for racing proper. Sold one race bike on and swapped the other over to slick and bars with a bolt on rigid rear end. Been 9.50's but it's a soft motor built for nitrous and the 60fts have been poor so far. We'll see what happens this year??? Also picked up LittleJoe's light weight wheels and a few other bits and pieces, when he sold up and moved on. |

I have a Hayabusa rear end (swingarm, wheel, brake caliper, sprockets, chain and brake line) adapted to fit an 1125r, cr for sale if anyone's interested. Lengthens wheelbase 3" plus you can get busa swingarm extenders to go longer. I used it for 1 season, lowered my ET almost a whole second and added 10 mph. Two ride height settings. |

I'm afraid Joe is done with Buell. When TwinMotorcycles destroyed his new motor on the dyno, the writing was on the wall. Having spent so much trying to get more hp and just ending up with a pile of broken bits, he's moving on to a BMW S1000. I've taken a few spares off his hands, having spat another shim on his stock motor he decided to break the bike rather than fix it again. Very sad losing Joe to four cylinders. |

My first 1125 was sold on and races in our ET class. And my 2nd bike is now running slick and bars. I'm not fit enough to race, but will be doing some testing on it. I may have a rider for some rounds this season. With Joe's wheels fitted it'll be a bit lighter so just going to stick with the stock motor for now. If we get her running well I'll turn the gas on. Long term I want to build my own chassis, so I can work on the motor in the damn frame. Absolutely no point in trying trick cams if you have to remove the frame to re- time...would make for a very long day at the dyno!!! |

Well, I did manage to get in two races before the local track season ended, and am reasonably pleased with the results. With only 8 passes down the track, 'Roxanne' dropped from a 13.5 to a 12.81 ET with a couple of .007 and .009 red lights as I was trying to relearn the tree. The bike ran about 105 mph on most passes, with the last 2 runs within .01 seconds of each other. It was fun, and I learned a lot, so I am looking forward to next year, with minor adjustments I'm pretty sure we'll drop to high 11's or low 12's.

I've been extremely busy at the local drag strip this year, so I haven't gotten to race until last Friday night...... Pretty darn happy with my first full night racing Roxanne, we went faster every pass, starting with a 12.755 @ 108mph, and a fastest pass of the night for me, a 12.6 @ 110.42mph. Hopefully, we'll race four more times this season, and make it past the second round without red lighting.
