For the first time I am able to have the money and take the time to go to Laguna Seca for a real race.
I have some questions:
How many people camp at the track?
When does everyone show up Friday or Saturday?
Do the people coming up from Southern Cal ride up or drive?
I am going to try and continue on to San Diego to visit my aunt and uncle.
Do most people leave from the track Sunday or Monday?

Look for the Buell Flag at the top of hill above the Cork Crew. You have then found alot of BadWeb members at a camp site known for alooooong time as the Sugar Shack. Best seat in the house.

The SCAB (Socal Area Buellers) site for WSBK is even better than the site we've had for MotoGP. We have the 2 corner sites up in the Corkscrew View camping area, arguably the best camping spots on the track. The Luv Shak (Jerry Johnsons big 5th wheel trailer) will be flying the Buell flag all weekend, it's pretty hard to miss.

He'll arrive there Thursday AM. Most of us riding up from SD will get there Friday afternoon.

I've done the trip in 6.5 hours from here to there, but we take all the twisty roads there and take all day Thursday and 2/3rds day Friday to get there. Most folks blast home after the races on Sunday, but some overnight in SLO or Pasa Robles.

Thanks for the info I will see you there. I take it I could throw a sleeping bag down in the dirt Saturday night and it would be ok?

The spot is pretty full on tents now, but there is always room for a sleeping bag under the LuvShak, which is pretty tall.

The issue with sleeping outside of a tent is that it very often is engulfed in fog in the wee morning hours. It can get pretty damp. But it'd be tolerable under the Shak....

"Do I need to buy a camping permit to throw a sleeping bag under the luv Shak?"

AFAIK, none of us that camp at the SCAB sites have bought individual camp permits. But if you get to the track any day after Thursday, you may/may not need a Vehicle Pass to show Security in order to ride up to the Corkscrew View RV area. In which case, the "Backup Plan" is to call Al or Jerry and they'll bring a spare pass down to get you in.

But, this isn't always the case. Sometimes you can just tell Security at the entrance to Corkscrew View RV you are camping with the guys in spots 557L & 558L and they will give you a camping wrist band which you need to display any time you leave the site and want to get back in. This is done in good faith and, so far, it has been the norm.

Can someone tell me why Google has me going from Salinas on Highway 68 then turning right on A or B road but.

The Mazda raceway down load runs you around to Highway 1 then brings you in from Hwy 218 to Jim Moore Blvd then onto South boundary road.

I trust the down load from the track is better? Seems kind of convoluted.

Perhaps it's because Mazda raceway is controlling the routing of vehicles into the place. There are 3 entrances to the track, so cars, buses, trucks & RVs go in one way, while motorcycles go in a different place. Trust me, it's better this way.

Google Maps is using the traditional location for entry into the track.

Also, I believe, the military has control of traffic to/from the track on South Boundary Rd, so this entry can change at the last minute.

Follow the directions that Mazda Raceway paperwork says to use depending on the vehicle you use.

See ya there!

Well the trip to Laguna Seca was great at the end of the trip I had put on 1675 miles there abouts (forgot to write down the ending millage) burned 35.66 gallons costing $143.90.

The problem with the EBR bikes are simple they sound too good. The bikes up front sound like crap. There is something just wrong about a bike that is missing as it accelerates between corners with the traction control wheelie control and every other control. This is almost as bad as watching Super Comp dragsters at a NHRA dragrace. If they want more spectators they had better make the bikes sound like a race bike.

This is how it ought to be. We don't need no stinking electronic traction control.
