I can't wait...almost having withdrawls from the lack of new and exciting race footage, photos, and stories about Geoff, Danny, and the Elves as they break new ground almost every race weekend. I've almost gotten spoiled, having such great results so far this season. I got to see Danny and Geoff stand on the podium at Sears Point, and am craving more. Great job this year EBR!!!   | ||

Dang. Impressive how the 1190's can be running so close in terms of lap times, with such a deficit in top speed (166 for *all* the inline fours versus 160 for the EBR). Makes you wonder how fair a 200cc displacement adjustment for the twins versus the fours is... | ||

AFAIK, Ducati and KTM haven't even been able to compete effectively, much less run away with it. What part of that is relative to the motor, what part is relative to the chassis, and what part is relative to the rider, team, and factory support? The math would be insanely difficult to work out to figure out what displacement correction should be applied to balance out the "number of cylinders" advantage the inline fours are allowed to maintain under the current rules. But whatever math you use, a 20% displacement difference seems on the low side to balance out a 100% "number of cylinders" advantage that the inline fours are allowed to have. | ||

Or were you implying they should be able to go up to 1300? Realistically, I don't think that would be a bad idea, but people who don't understand the differences in the engines and power delivery would complain. | ||

Of course you sould have to figure out how the ability to hook up and drive out of corners is effected by the twin versu 4 deal and this would vary by track. Less important a Daytona or Road America but more a Sears Point or Laguna. | ||

Carlos Checa would probably agree that a 200cc displacement advantage is "enough." He's struggling somewhat this year, but had a pretty nice cakewalk last year. He's still using last year's bike though. He probably will use a Panigale next year. Let's see if anyone runs a Panigale next year in AMA Pro. | ||

Yeah, I was thinking 200cc is pretty much the low end of what is reasonable. It isn't much, compared to the advantages of twice the number of cylinders moving half as fast through half the distance. But the racing is close and exciting, so they didn't totally blow the rules either. It's been a good season. | ||
