Jake Zemke has apparently signed to race for the WFR Honda tema in the EVO class of British Superbike for the remainder of 2011, and will make his debut at Knockhill (Scotland) next weekend!

We'll have a 'Californian' corner of the BSB paddock before long!

The WFR Honda ride was vacated by 2011 sensation Alex Lowes following his unsuccesful contract negotiations with the team (They tried to get him locked into a 10 year management contract!) and Zemke will team up with Aussie Glen Richards.
I hope Jake reads the contract small print before comitting himself to the team full time!

Zemke makes his debut for WFR Honda this weekend at Knockhill circuit near Edinburgh.
Also making his BSB debut is fellow American Mark Miller on an Aprilia RSV4.

In FP1 held in cold, wet and blustery conditions (welcome to Britain chaps!) Zemke was 31st and Miller 34th.

John Hopkins, on his first visit to the track, was 4th fastest behind Tommy Hill (Yamaha), Michael laverty (Yamaha) and Shane Byrne (Honda.

Hopper, when he's on his game, happens to be a VERY talented rider. He was hampered by sub-par equipment in MotoGP (first the Suzuki, then the even more miserable Kawasaki) and then by all his injuries. I hope he can still prove his worth.

Zemke is a good rider, but, I think, will have a large learning curve.
The BSB tracks are very different from what he is accustomed to, and the Honda isn't the best platform in the paddock.

Hopefully he can come around to make a decent spot in the series.
It was a shame that nobody picked him up in AMA this year.

"The BSB tracks are very different from what he is accustomed to"

....and a cold wet blustery Knockhill is very different from other BSB venues.
Talk about a baptism of fire! Hopkins has been popular in the UK for a long time so BSB was a smart move for him. He seems to be adapting well and I'd be surprised if we don't see him in WSB next year.

+1 on that!
I couldn't believe just how bumpy the circuit was! I thought Croft was bad but Knockhill looked more like a MX track in places (as Hopper found out in race 2!).

Zemke and Mark Miller acquited themselves pretty well at their first BSB round, and although they didn't get amongst the leaders they didn't fall off or get in the way either. Zemke scored points in the EVo class so a good start for him.

Hopkins looked incandescent after his crash in race two, and was very lucky not to skittle more people when his bike ran across the track!
