I don't have experience of my own, but I've been doing some reading on the wera bbs and the ohlins valve kits don't have as good a reputation as the 25 & 30mm cartridge kits or the Traxxion cartridges. Given how close they are in price I'd go for the Showa cartridges.

That's kinda where my thought process was taking me also.
...if only money wasn't an issue.

Forks are on their way back from Ohlins USA. Apparently I'm the first to go with the 30mm kit in an 1125 (Geoff's forks are 30mm GAS sealed cartridges $$$$$$) so I'm glad I went straight to the source to make sure they were done right. Sounds like they (Brad Stokes) had to do quite a bit of work make sure everything stacked up right. Can't wait to try them out - First race is April 30 at Nelson Ledges. I've got to hit a track day or two before then to get things sorted.

<--- Jealous.

I just ordered the black forks with the cartridges installed from Erik Buell Racing.

That will be a fun package to open also.

Well I just got my first taste with the Ohlins 30mm kit at a track day yesterday. It was 35 degrees with blowing snow so I was only able to ride at about 85-90%, and Grattan has just been repaved and it's very smooooth so I can't comment much on bump absorbtion.

The first thing I notice is how settled the bike feels on corner entry, especially on quick side to side transitions. I'd always relied on trail braking as a crutch before, knowing that's what was holding up my lap times, to keep the bike settled and the forks compressed during entry. As I picked up speed throughout the day it became more and more apparent that I could pitch the bike into corners much more quickly without the chassis pitching around. Now I could get off the brakes sooner and throw it in faseter.

The other big difference seems like its in the top-out spring arrangement. I don't know what they did, but now coming out of corners hard on the gas the front wheel is staying in better contact, much less shake in the bars and it continues to steer.

The damping generally feels like it has a lot more low speed damping and a lot less high speed which is probably what's keeping the chassis settled. I kept the stock forks damped pretty close to maximum to stop the bike from moving around too much but that made it get upset by bumps.

Of course none of this subjective touchy-feely stuff means anything unless I see lap times start dropping. That will come in 2 weeks. First race is at Nelson Ledges which is also very bumpy - can't wait
