Damn... I wanted to see Lorenzo beat Pedrosa... but not THIS way.

And I'm thinking the only reason Matt found this season boring is because he didn't have a dog in the hunt. Anyone want to bet he'll change his tune next year with Crutchlow on the grid?

Matt is a Rossi fanboy, if Rossi would have won every race by 10 seconds ,he would have loved the racing this year .

It seems that Rossi does not have a bad shoulder problem any more, and he is out to beat Lorenzo. His performance so far in the weekend shows that he is OK with the shoulder , so I hope we do not get any more "shoulder injury" excuses from Rossi .

Also the Yamahas had the highest top speed , so I hope we do not get any more excuses from Lorenzo about "no top speed". Lorenzo and Rossi seems to always bad-mouth Yamaha , while they enjoy the best overall package in motoGP. Why Yamaha is putting up with this ???

It seems that Ducati is exactly where they were before Aragon. Hayden is struggling and Stoner found something very late in QP , but both their race pace is not that good. Maybe the reason Ducati did great in Aragon , which was a new track for everybody , was the talent of their riders to learn a track and be fast from the beginning , and that the teams had no data to fine-tune the setting of their bikes.

All four Yamahas in the first two rows. This should be good. Hoping Colin has a break out race!

Lorenzo got the title and the 10million euros he was asking for the next 2 years. So he does not need to be conservative any more.

Rossi has something to prove to Lorenzo, Yamaha and Ducati.

Stoner seems to have found something with the Duc and he start riding hard again.
Dovi is in good form and rides the best package at the moment.

Lets hope we see a great and injury free race with a fight for 1st position right to the last lap.

Lorenzo doesn't have the title YET, although it would be foolish to bet against him at this point. If he is 75 points in the clear after Malaysia (next week), THEN he can be crowned champion. Let's not count our chickens before they hatch.

Personally, I'm pulling for him. Rossi hasn't made it easy for him as a team mate and it's just a shame Lorenzo couldn't beat him this season head-to-head. Next season will be a whole 'nother ball of wax.

The good news is the "Rossi Wall" will be coming down. All indications are that Ben and Jorge get along well and will be sharing data next season. That can only help the BOTH of them.

Wonder what Rossi will try to do with Nicky next season?

Great inteview from Spies , that answered many questions for Rossi's fans about the support they both got the last races , when Rossi really struggled and Spies was flying.

Great race in Japan!!!!

Rossi had a great race and gave us a great show . He also gave Lorenzo a great lesson. No more shoulder problems ?? It seems so , which is good news for the sport, but why is he keep mentioning in his inteviews ??

Lorenzo was upset with Rossi's move. He mentioned danger.

Pedrosa blew it. He could have been 1st and Lorenzo 5th , and that would make it open for the title.

I thinks that HRC should consider Dovi as a future Stoner's team mate. Pedrosa seems fragile and I am not sure they need fights between Stoner and Pedrosa in future, like the ones we have this year at Yamaha with Rossi and Pedrosa.

Rossi was weak through the right handers towards the end of the race - I guess this was shoulder related.
Lorenzo was on and old engine; Rossi had taken a new latest spec one for this race so had a slight power advantage.

Dovi looked good but you'd have to think that Dani would have walked the race had he been fit based on their relative performances over the year.
Honda have said that Pedrosa's accident was caused by the throttle sticking open. Difficult to tell from the on-board shot but if true it's a bit rough blaming the rider for it.

I really do not know , but Yamaha R1 and R6 use a cable to mechanicaly close the throttle on the "fly-by-wire" electrical throttle system. This sounds safe to me.

What happened to Pedrosa was a real shame , because after the last result in Japan , it would be possible to get the title.

Not if the racing is as dull as this year I won't. Regardless of who is racing/winning.
In fact if the first few races are this bad I probably won't watch the whole season : (

Matt is a Rossi fanboy, if Rossi would have won every race by 10 seconds ,he would have loved the racing this year .

I am indeed a fan of Rossi because of what he has achieved so far, but more than that I am a fan of motorcycle racing, so I wouldn't be happy to see him or anyone else winning by large margins I'm afraid.

This season has been the most boring to watch that I can remember since Doohan was cleaning up with impunity. Unless the racing gets closer and they get many more bikes on the grid I don't see much of a future for MotoGP in its current form (or in 1000cc form either, which will be just larger/heavier versions of what we see now).

This weekend was only made marginally more entertaining by the bumping and barging between Rossi and Lorenzo, but to be honest it was still a pretty pedestrian race to watch at the front. At least the WSB races were more exciting : )

I can pretty much guarantee that if Spies threatens Lorenzo too much next year the data sharing will come to a halt too : )

Lin Jarvis has admitted that the controversial wall wasn’t that negative and that some sort of partition will probably be separating Lorenzo’s and Ben Spies garages.

Maybe something like the "wall" that separates Edwards and Spies now? Only a wall in front, with full access behind compared to the Fiat garage which is more like two separate garages.

The more I see of Rossi this year, the more I'm reminded of something Mat Mladin said in an interview last year. I don't remember the EXACT words, but in essence he said that the big difference between himself and Valentino Rossi is that Rossi will be smiling and laughing as he plunges the knife into your back...

After reading so many things about the Rossi-Lorenzo battle , I think that Lorenzo chose the wrong time to have a last lap battle with Rossi and paid for it big time. Rossi had a better pace all weekend , and Lorenzo had the title in the back of his mind , so he had more to loose. Lorenzo should have settled for 4th and live to fight Valentino after next round, he has 3 rounds to do it. Instead Lorenzo made a bad judgement , and lost a fair and hard battle. Then he made a big mistake and decided to give interviews about "dangerous riding" and "team-mates respect" and all sort of crap , and on top of that Yamaha backed Lorenzo up. What is wrong with these clowns ??? When will they learn that sometimes you just loose ??

When both riders are riding for the same manufacturer, and that manufacturer is in contention for the constructor's title, it doesn't help if their two star performers take each other out.

If you get a chance, look at the replays. Lorenzo's passes were CLEAN (no contact). ROSSI was the one bouncing off of Lorenzo on his passes. Why was Rossi riding so aggressively? He has no title on the line, Lorenzo does. Rossi had NOTHING to gain but "bragging rights" and could've cost BOTH of them with his actions.

Compare that to the 2005 USGP at Laguna Seca when he had an opportunity to pass Edwards on the last lap. In interviews after that race he said he saw a possible opportunity, but decided it was too risky and TWO Yamahas on the podium were better than none.

The difference? Rossi LIKES Colin Edwards. He has NEVER liked Lorenzo, and had many disputes with Yamaha with being paired with him. He wanted Simoncelli, but Yamaha didn't think he was ready and they recognized Lorenzo as the potent podium threat that he's turned out to be.

Next year should be REAL interesting. Me, I'm rooting for Lorenzo. I said it before... I'm a YAMAHA fan, not a Rossi fan. I cheered on Rossi BECAUSE he rode a Yamaha. Next year, it'll be all about Lorenzo and Spies.

As an American, of course, I'll favor Spies... but as a REALIST, I'm betting on Lorenzo. But Ben has surprised me before...

Lorenzo said nothing when he did the same to Pedrosa , but of course that time he was the aggresive one and he won the battle.

Respect to Pedrosa for saying nothing , and just accept his defeat !!

If Lorenzo was thinking about his title and Yamahas construction championship , he was the one , the 2010 champion , who should show his greatness and let Rossi get a podium and give maximum and safe points for Yamaha . But no , he wanted to fight Rossi , as he thought he would get the glory of beating Rossi , but he was a fool , he chose the wrong time to mess with him . Rossi fought like a wounded animal !!! Respect to Vale , big time !!!! Later ,Lorenzo on his interview at motogp.com he looked like a little boy that got smacked. I think he never realised how bad that was for his image.

Also my respect to Stoner who tries and tries to win and improve the GP10 , while he knows that Rossi will benefit from this.

Who says that motoGP racing is boring ??? Don't think so !

Lorenzo's passes were CLEAN (no contact). ROSSI was the one bouncing off of Lorenzo on his passes.

I think they were aggressive as each other to be honest. At one point Rossi had the inside line and was clearly going to be ahead into the right hand corner, but Lorenzo tried to go around the outside and chop in front. This resulted in the bikes hitting each other. Rossi didn't change line or hit Lorenzo, it was the other way round when Lorenzo tried to take the same piece of tarmac.

For Lorenzo to go running to the team managers for their support is ridiculous and he has gone down in my estimation (and a lot of other fans) hugely for it. It was a hard fought battle but nothing that was over the top from either rider in my opinion. This is motorcycle racing after all, not knitting. Lorenzo comes out of this looking slightly childish and stupid (a bit like Stoner did at Laguna when he accused Rossi of being unfair!) so it has probably backfired on him more than Vale.

The team reaction is equally disgusting to me and I really hope that Yamaha never win another championship after this year given their reaction to what was hard but fair racing. They never complained in the past when Rossi was hard racing with opponents did they? As they later admitted, if it was deemed to be unfair or unsafe then race direction would have got involved, but they didn't. : )

Rossi's quote afterwards pretty much sums it up to me : )

'He's been saying all year he wanted a last-lap battle with me; well today he got it.'

Rossi can of course also take comfort in seeing the Ducati becoming more competitive at the end of the season too ; )

The last 2 races indicate that the Duc can be made to work in every circuit , for both Stoner and Hayden, if there is someone that can set it up , and who is the best in setting up a GP bike ??? The Rossi-Burgess combination.

2011 is going to be great !

Could this not be a play by Rossi to get Yamaha to agree to releasing him early?
I'm all for it. It looked fair to me and looks like providing some entertainment for the rest of the season.

I think this was Rossi's way of saying he doesn't give a crap about Yamaha's title hopes. In politics, he'd be a "Lame Duck candidate." Nothing to lose, so he'll do whatever he damn well pleases.

It will be interesting to see how long the freindly faced lasts on Lorenzos face with Spies as his team mate next year. Will he run to the management if Ben 'tags' him in a race or has the temerity to beat him?

Methinks the matey boy atmosphere will evaporate pretty quickly once Spies gets up to speed on the factory bike, although I don't think either of them will win the title next year ; ) I have a feeling that 2011 will be a Honda year somehow.

Or will Rossi go crying that the Ducati just wasn't good enough??

I think Spies is talented enough that Lorenzo may find he is not the best rider on the team next year. Ben did quite well this year without knowing the tracks...next year I expect to see him in contention.

As far as Rossis shoulder is concerned, shoulders take a looong time to heal. Rossi will probably not be healthy again till the beginning of next season.
