Figured I'd share a crash video with you guys. It was April 4, 2010 at Jennings GP the Expert Light Weight GP Race. Lined up far right on the front row. #3, Mark Evry, who shot the onboard video, lined up right next to me on his Duc 1000. Funny thing is, I was going to sit the race out because it was so hot out and I wanted to save myself and my tires for the upcoming Super Sport race, which I needed the points in. However, my buds talked me into going out and turning some laps for practice. So anyway, lined up and got a great launch on the XB12R and found myself in the lead. So much for just turning some laps to practice for my upcoming SS race.... I actually was talking to myself going down the back-stretch saying "damn Al, you put yourself out here in the lead, now put your head down and see what you can do". Well, you know what happens when you find yourself in the lead and didn't expect to be there, you push hard and try to stay there. I knew there was some really fast and talented guys behind me who would be pushing hard. With that said, I started riding a little over my head. I had been struggling with the XB with set-up issue's all weekend and didn't really have it dialed in. With that said, on the second lap I got on the gas a little to hard rounding turn #10 and spun the back tire. The bike didn't spit me off the high-side, but the resulting tank slapper kicked my ass. So much for that Piece of shit LSL steering damper. I'm now looking for an Ohlins..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKPnIaGYzWo |

Al... I know I told you Buells crash well, but you don't have to test that out!! Glad to hear you are ok. That looked like a pretty good lead. |

Every time I miss my mark in 10 (tires between the inside edge of the track and the asphalt "splotch" right at the apex) I imagine what it would be like to run out of track coming out of 10... that video shows in no uncertain terms it's not something I want to experience. Glad you are ok, and hope the bike is too. Prior to the "oops" you were well out in front and looking good! |
