I think there will be three americans on podiums this year; Nicky, Ben and Colin. Only if certain other riders don't turn up or fall off (Message edited by trojan on April 13, 2010) |

I have no problem critisizing Stoners, stupid comments...... Stoner is talking "B ull - Sh it" for this one .... He basically said that he crashed because he tried to go slower than he normaly did in FP - Warm up - QP. But before he crashed , he lapped 1:55:5 in the race, which was a record , he then went faster on the first split of the next lap , and of course he crashed. He is an idiot , simple as that. And then he tells the world that if you try to go slow , you crash @!#!! Wow , the rest of the motoGP racers are in danger . They should try Stoner's theory , ride over the limit to avoid crashing. Maybe that is why Stoner crashed in the warm up lap at Valencia last year , because he was not pushing to the limit , since it was a warm up lap !@#! Stop this "I am in love with Rossi" commends and posts. It has been said over and over again. He is great , simple as that. The rest are just too much "hype" , that makes me sick. |

The rest are just too much "hype" , that makes me sick. Not hype..just commercial fact I'm afraid. When somebody beats his (pretty unbeatable)record and starts to win more races than him then maybe we will all talk about that other rider in the same reverential tones, but until then........Rossi is the GOAT. |

I did see some stats indicating that since the start of the 800cc era, Stoner has had better numbers than Rossi: http://moto-racing.speedtv.com/article/motogp-ross i-vs-stoner/ |

Stoner has a better record for the 8800cc era by virtue of his and Ducatis utter dominance of the inaugaral 800 season. Once the other factories woke from their slumber the honours have been shared more equally between the 'aliens'. I read somewhere yesterday about Rossi and his records, and although I can't remember the exact details (I'll try and remember where I read them) they are pretty astounding really. He has won something like 25 more GP's than the rest of the competitors can muster all put together! Today's MCN has a quote from the boss of Yamaha saying that he fully expected to be signing Rossi and Lorenzo for 2011 and beyond so Spies looks to be out on a limb unless he wants to stay at Tech 3. Rossi has apprently said that he will have a contract signed by July but doesn't tell us which factory he will be signing for yet.... |

Rossi, is clearly one of the best ever. Having gotten beat and then coming back to win the title again is, in my mind, a true sign of how good he is. He has faced riders good enough to beat him in the occasional race and even for a championship but he comes back and overcomes them. The really great riders have to have a foil; a worthy opponent who is almost as good as they are, that they can be measured againest. Think Roberts and Sheene, Lawson and Rainey, Hailwood and Ago. Rossi has ahd several. |

And he's won on such a wide variety of machines, too. 125cc, 250cc and 500cc two strokes; and then the 990cc and 800cc four strokes. Every one requires a different riding style and yet he adapts. The more you think about it, the more amazing it seems. |

Predictions: Colin will get at least one podium, Spies will get more than one and a win in the last quarter of the season, Nicky will be on the podium at least once and will perform better as the season goes on, providing he can keep out of the path of wayward hondas and yamahas. Pedrosa will not podium until June and will win more than one thereafter. |

Not having access to the team telemetry for Stoner's crash and not riding the bike and gullible though I may be, I would accept what the rider(stoner) gives as his reason for falling. I would accept any rider's version under those circumstances. |

Stoner F****D up, simple as that. At the end of the year he may rue the 25 points he threw away last weekend. The slowest three bikes through the speed trap at Qatar were surprisingly all Yamahas. Even then Rossi ran out of fuel on the slow down lap! 15. Lorenzo 16. Rossi 17. Spies When they get the power sorted they will be a force to reckon with eh? |

Speed in the U.S. didn't show the post race interviews. I heard Rossi showed up at Parc Ferme on a scooter. Did it have a yellow "46" on it? |

Rossi, is clearly one of the best ever. How can anyone not declare Rossi as the BEST ever? AND he manages to do it with with flair and charisma second to none. I feel lucky to watch the Doctor in action. Also, don't forget the fact he moved to from the best bike in the paddock to the worst and STILL won. Unbelievable. |

He didn't move to the worst. That would be Suzuki. If he does that and wins??? Then hes a miracle worker.LOL |

He didn't move to the worst. That would be Suzuki. At the time of his announcement to move to Yamaha they were pretty much as bad a Suzuki/Kawasaki. In fact Honda were so far ahead of the rest at that time that it was almost unbelievable that Rossi could even consider leaving for another manufacturer. The equivalent impact that his announcement had on the press at thetime would be Mat Mladin announcing that he was leaving Yoshimura Suzuki to ride for Royal Enfield in AMA Superbike (well almost). Now we look at the M1 Yamaha and it is the best bike in the paddock, but back then it was a big risk to take for Rossi and Burgess. I think the only reason he may consider riding for another manufacturer may be if he considers it to be a similar challenge as his Yamaha move. Personally I hope Rossi wins every race of 2010 and 2011 then decides to move to Moto2 for 2012 just to get a full set of championship trophies |

I want to see Rossi in World Superbike. He's already on record as saying those races are more exciting than MotoGP. |

jainec, Rossi is likeObama, he will say anything to get people thinking, he thins like them. he would never do WSB, he could not afford to be embarrased to loose to a WSB racer becuase it would hurt MOTO GP as the elite league of racers. |

I do not think it is possible anyone from the WSBK grid to win a race against Rossi...... |

Well, in all fairness... Troy Bayliss did in Valencia in 2006. But if you're referring to the current grid? You're probably right. But first, Rossi would have to wrap his brain around riding a superbike... something he's never done before. Go watch that video interview with Ben Spies I posted earlier. Very interesting insight as to the differences between riding a Superbike vs. riding a MotoGP bike. |

when you're that talented, it isn't that much of a change, regardless of what Ben Spies says. |

Rossi has already proved he can jump from one class to another and from 2 stokes to 4 strokes and win, so Superbikes wouldn't be a problem to him. As Amafan has already said, Rossi has already won on a superbike at Suzuka and a great rider is still a great rider when he changes bikes. It is one of the marks of a great talent that they can adapt quickly to different types of bike. he would never do WSB, he could not afford to be embarrased to loose to a WSB racer becuase it would hurt MOTO GP as the elite league of racers. Rossi wouldn't be hurt by it at all. He has enough money in the bank to cushion him against any embarrasment and really doesn't care a jot for the rest of the 'elite league' to worry about their feelings. If he was scared of being embarrassed he would never have left Honda. He has already seen that GP riders tend to adapt to WSB much easier and faster than riders coming in the other direction (with the exception of Spies), so would certainly be fighting for wins straight away. Remember Biaggi and Checa were nowhere near as good as Rossi and they are both running at the front in WSB. If Vale decided to do a season (or 2) of Superbikes to finish his career off then all of the major WSB teams would be clamouring to sign him at any price that's for sure. |

In all fairness, Biaggi and Checa weren't running at the front consistently until this year (last year for Max). |

Due to the volcanic eruption in Iceland disrupting flights in and out of Europe, Dorna is postponing the Motegi round originally scheduled for next weekend till later in the year in October. I haven't heard anything about the WSBK round in Assen this weekend. |

I haven't heard anything about the WSBK round in Assen this weekend. Most of the WSB teams are based in Europe and land/sea travel isn't affected (if you can blag a ticket!). I think this WSB round will be safe but there are forecasts that the ash cloud could be with us for a number of weeks and that could unfortunately affect future events. Confirmation here that WSB will go ahead at Assen http://www.motomatters.com/news/2010/04/19/assen_wsbk_round_to_go_ahead_as_planned.html Maybe they should re-arrange the GP scedule and hold all the remaining races in the UK instead (Message edited by trojan on April 19, 2010) |

In a recent interview, Colin Edwards guessed that he's the only one on the current GP grid who's ever raced at Silverstone... By the time that the GP guys get to Silverstone this year it will be unrecognisable and will be a superb ciruit for bike racing. The new 'Loop' will make spectating there a pleasure rather than the chore it used to be in the old days. Colin may recognise 2 or 3 corners but that will be the only advantage he will have. The new Silverstone circuit will certainly favour those bikes with the highest top speeds, so Yamaha will have their work cut out to get competitive there I think. |
