This was on Chaconas' former racing steed. It obviously had just enough power advantage that all I had to to was wait until the last turn of the last lap to PIN the throttle to pass Chaconas, Snair, Ortiz before Start/Finish. The bike built by Earl Kellerman and Wil - performed really well, ALL the other guys were far better than me in the turns - it's just that Willow can be a power-dominated track and on these little bikes, that is a big deal. Really, Chaconas, Ortiz, Snair and I were able to play together lap after lap and they ALL had me in the turns. Seems unfair to take a win the way I did. Lance Lewman was still sorting handling issues on his Blast-S1 hybrid or he'd have been right there with the rest of us. FUN STUFF. Had a great day - results are not yet posted. Timing and scoring had an electronic glitch so it might be a few days before official results are posted. Had 4 good Twins class races. Didn't break anything, didn't fall down. Just concentrated on getting smooth. Felt good - think I knocked a couple seconds off my lap times since last month... but have to wait and see. IF the electronic timing and scoring system went down, we may never know laptimes if they had to resort to hand-scoring. |

Starting to get used to the quirky handling and power deliver - braking and shifting. It isn't just a hop off the twin and onto the Blast. It IS a hoot-and-a-half to race in the 500 Blast class at Willow. We're adding more folks who are pleasantly surprised at how cheap Singles class racing can turn out to be. My main classes are the Twins but since Antelope Valley Buell sponsors this class and since the GM (Scott Kellerman) - his Father built this bike, I figured what the heck, I OUGHT to race it. I gotta say that David Ortiz on his Blast is the BEST of the group. That bike is a stock-chassis bike and he can really keep it right with Chaconas (XB-Blast) and Snair (XB-Blast) It's just fun and nowhere NEAR the tire bills as the Twin! |

Congrats Steve. I still have a spare engine as well as a short stroke big bore kit,XB frame, and a chain type swing arm. What you guys are doing sounds like so much fun, but what I don't have is "Time" Terry |

Congrats Steve! Sorry James and I didnt stick around to watch, but I was anxious to get home and pull the gear case off my bike and see why things stopped turning (sheered pinion key-bent valve). I think we'll be out again next month, but on exactly what I'm not sure of yet. After years of trouble free racing with the Blast, stupid stuff just keeps happening (mostly stuff that shouldnt happen). But I guess thats racing! Again, glad to see you out there running and winning with the 'Blasts'. Your XBlast going to be done soon? |

XBlast is at least a couple months away. Still have to get the XB twin squared away. Gotta see if Earl wants to tackle the Blast motor (hasn't run in 3 years). I'll do the fab work on mounts, tie-rods, etc. but for now, the BlastS1 is gonna have to do... meanwhile the XB Twin soldiers on |
