Hi Guys - I've done two succesive weekends of drag racing in a row. My bike an '08 1125R and is bone stock with some minor ECM tweaking. I have the very first flash in my ECM (and I mean the ORIGINAL one) I'm 210lbs in full gear. I ran consistent 10.9's at 130mph+ today and fully expect quite a bit faster after I add an exhaust with some dyno time. My advice? Launch hard in 1st feathering the clutch at 6-7k - hold a (max) 1ft wheelie and powershift into second around 9k. No clutch shifing through every gear at 10k. With good reaction time this should net you low 11's high 10's everytime. And lastly; if you have the capability to 'add' fuel; do it. LOTS of it. Taker easy! |

My bike "felt" much more powerful with the ORIGINAL flash and 49 state muffler, alas, no dyno or drag runs to back that up... |

I sound like a broken record, but I still want to see a '25 run lowered, with bars and a slick...mid 9's should be easily within reach. |

you guys running stock swingarms- what are ya's doing with rear suspension? take out all pre-load? Running a Test and Tune Night tonight-first ever passes. I wanna keep my streetbike all streetbike...just looking for 'quick' at-the-track adjustments. season is nearly over,so i'm not gonna be doing front end straps or anything like that this year. |

I didn't change my suspension at all from my street riding settings. Just feather the clutch to control the 1st gear wheelie and you'll be fine. |

Littlebutquick: amazing! Congrats. i ran about 20 passes this season and never broke the 10's- 11.106 was my best. I'm a full blown addict now. Mind sharing what tire (tyre) pressure you are running? Thanks |

t_man - im sorry, but i dont want false information spread - you commented that 'with a good reaction time you can net....' etc etc your RT has ZERO to do with ET |

My 60ft's are where i have the problem. Staying on the clutch WAY too long, and only turning 2.5-2.6 on the 60's. Gotta get seat time! Garret, i know what ya mean..a 10 second reaction time can still get you a 9 second run. I'm assuming T-man meant 60ft times, not r.t. |

Actually, R/T can affect ET....IF the differences are caused by how deep you stage...deep staging improves R/T...but because you have less rollout, you have less of a "running start" at the light..(you are going slower as the front wheel breaks the start line beam)...shallow stage and you have MORE "running start" at the start line...you have to move farther to trip the beam, so reaction time is slower...but you are moving faster as you start the timer...result slightly better ET. |

What you just said is not true, yes if you deep stage your time will be slower but you can still sit there and have a 1 sec reaction time and run the same et as if you had a perfect light as long as your staged the same. so rt still has no effect on et. yes shallow and deep staging do. I have 23 yrs in the bank drag racing. |

staging deep or shallow does not affect your RT and thus has nothing to do with your ET PLEASE STOP SPREADING LIES |

deep or shallow staging DOES affect reaction time, cafefun has it exactly right, I would say we have about 50 years of drag race experience between the two of us, and you can take that to the bank! The only time RT affects ET is if your RT change is affected by where you stage. |

10.60 at over 130. Did this repeatedly. Stock except for tune. Bike would easily get in the 9's if set up right for the track. |

I'll see if I can find the timeslips. I don't remember but I don't think they were that great. This bike is very hard to hold down in 1st and 2nd. A strap would probably make a difference and softening up the preload on the shock. BR. |

READ the post...it says "If the differences are caused by how deep you stage"....NOT by how long you are asleep at the tree... Rollout affects both reaction time and ET. It may be of little consequence if you are racing heads up and have a decisive performance advantage over the opponent. In ET racing, however...it can be a major factor in who wins. |

Ok, updates here, Look in the archive here for my last year runs. I have a fmf slip on now, and a EBR race ecm set for pump gas, which is the fuel I am running( well, 1 gal of 96 on top of a tank of 91) I also have the inner airbox back on, as the bike wouldn't run hardly at all with the slip on and the airbox removed. I rode the bike to the track and made 1 pass with the stock California ECM, I relly don't know if it.s the latest flash, the dealer hasn't had the bike for about 6 months. first pass, 12.031 at 113.1 mph. Bad RT, bad 60 ft of 2.29. Install EBR race ecm. 2nd pass, 11.659 at 121.97 mph. bad rt, 60 ft 2.144. still cant launch. 3rd pass 11.555 at 122.28 mph. 2.049 60 ft, .082 rt. Now we're getting to race pace (bracket e.t.) 4th pass, 11.287 at 122.42 1.88 60 ft, but fell asleep at the light. Still, a decent 60 ft helps et a lot! Ran 11.4's on a 11.3 dial in, made it to the final, and ran a 45 on a 40 dial in, made the other guy break out, voila! Takes home the trophy! Now I'm curious if the EBR ecm can feed the motor w'out the inner airbox might be some et there, maybe not. Obviously my launch needs help, I only ran the one 1.89 60 ft. got lucky with 2.0's in eliminations, and ran 11.40's at 122 lifting twice, so there is more in there. My battery might be bad too, and my last pass was a 11.45 at 115 running it out the back door, so I m not quite sure what to make of that, but my charging or battery started acting a bit weird the last couple runs. |

are you launching with any throttle or off idle? our season starts in 2 weeks-and my launch is horrible. I also only manage mid-high 2's in my 60's. I launch off idle and wick it up with clutch. i feel like i am on the clutch WAY too long, but any faster and it just wants to stand up. only got about 20 passes last fall, improving from mid 12's to high 11's. Your consistant, which is gonna win you lots of trophies. Nice job, bigblock! |

Thanks Bott, keep at it and you will improve. On my launch, I like to rev it to about 4 to 4500 and slip the clutch a bit, I would estimate I don't get the clutch fully engaged before 20 to 40 feet, hard to say. I have found I can't launch at idle or too low an rpm, if I get the clutch out too soon, it kills the motor, or wheelies with too much rpm and throttle. It is a real balancing act, I have found it best to start with your shift foot on the peg ready to shift, and the right foot I just let hang so as not to upset the bike or it will induce a wheelie in the lower gears. I also hang way out over the front as far as I can to prevent wheelies, I don't tuck until I am in 3rd gear. I hope this helps, the really quickest guys here seem to use a somewhat different technique, but I am over 6 foot and weigh almost 230 suited up. I hope this helps, but you have improved from mid 12 to high 11's in only 20 passes, so I think you are doing pretty good too, just keep trying and when it works for you, try and duplicate that technique. It helps to have a spotter to watch you and other bikes, as well. |

Glad racing season is back with us...congrats on the improvements in performance...and congrats on the win, Bigblock!! It is very tough to ride a stock wheelbase streetbike...especially one as short and powerful as an 1125. Reminds me of the early model V-Max..a real hand full. |

Thanks, Ya it sure is tricky, and fun, too! EBR is working with me. They are being real helpful and we're going to try a couple things to see if they help with performance and consistency. |
