Last year there were those who predicted that DMG would ruin AMA road racing. Seems to me the racing has been outstanding in all classes. What do you think? G |

I just watched two really great races (American Super bike & Daytona Sport bike). I think the racing is better than ever. |

The racing is great. Things seem more stable than last year. Management seems improved (Our loss of Dave McGrath was AMA's gain) TV coverage is better than it's ever been (prior to DMG, we got a few random Superbike races and the Daytona 200, now we're getting complete, detailed, same day coverage of the full weekend's races in high def). There are now two, clearly defined, premier classes as opposed to the confusing collection of 4 vaguely defined classes prior to DMG. I think the future is very bright for AMA racing. Hopefully we'll be able to root for Buells or EBR's or . . . whatever is next, in the not too distant future. Chase McFarland did a nice job for his first time out, but he clearly didn't have the experience or support to run with the top riders . . . yet. It'll be interesting to see if he can move up a few notches tomorrow. |

I worked as a Tire Marshall at California Speedway this weekend. I learned a thing about this year's AMA in the process. Before starting on Friday morning, we (the Marshals) were given a briefing, which emphasized the importance of being courteous. And what to do if controversy arose. During the course of the weekend, I asked one of the officials that the AMA has a different approach. He replied that AMA is under new management who understands the concept that the racers are AMA's customers so treat them as such. Saturday was quite the mayhem with very high winds at Fontana. AMA called Riders/Teamowner meetings to get consensus on decisions to delay and a re-vamped schedule before they proceeded. Indeed, it is a better AMA this year. Scott Russell and Kevin Schwantz were hanging out around my post on Friday to observe practice and qualifying. All I got to say about Scott is he should drop the heavy dose of Aqua Velva. I tried to be upwind of him as much as possible. |

Chris did a fantastic job! The team is him, his dad, and a friend. He managed to place the 1125R in 16th in DSB yesterday. That was his first time in an AMA event and his second time at California Speedway! I'd say he's my new hero! |

This was the coolest sounding bike all day. Best looking too.
Higbees 1125 had been dumped, It was a little torn up, scuffed plastics and a broken foot peg. Not to bad. |

Tdiddy- Shawns 1125 IS the Daytona 200 bike he finished 8th on. That's just the way it finished the race! Broken peg, zip tied fairing, and scratches. |
