LOOK at DAYTONA 200 ENTRIES; unfortunate . I talked to BOTH my Sponsors & am unable to find the minimal 20k I believed it would take to field a reasonable entry. THIS, & probably other interwebBS sites are lamenting the foundering of AMA/DGM. The $$ is in da mouth...too bad WE are unable ta spit it out. But the talk is FREE on da web & da poopie shows....tragic |

Maybe the problem isn't the AMA/DMG, maybe the problem was that motorcycle racing got too far from production hardware, and too expensive to support. And this is just the painful correction... |

Maybe the problem isn't the AMA/DMG, maybe the problem was that motorcycle racing got too far from production hardware, and too expensive to support. And this is just the painful correction... The motorcycle industry is going through a hard time worldwide, and most major race series are short of a few riders/teams compared to last year, but nowhere near on the same scale as the AMA. The recession has undoubtedly had some impact (and I'm sure that DMG will make it the major factor)but bad managemant and poor decision making have been more responsible for the poor state of the Daytona (and subsequent AMA races) entry than pure financial issues I'm sure. BSB, WSB and WSS all look reasonably strong agian for 2010 in comparison. I'd be interested to see how the entries for WERA, CCS and USGPRU are holding up against previous years, as these may be more of an indication of 'privateer' finances than AMA entries? |
