Drag racer here, but looking for a quicker turn throttle set-up. Do you guys use anything for this? Would love a 5/8 turn setup, and there is no room to change the ramp cams on the stock setup. Any help/thoughts appreciated. Also LOVE the C.O.R.A. idea mentioned in another post- Cast Off Racing Alliance! Would be fantastic to setup something with a network for sharing information and parts availability for us orphan racers, regardless of type, level or location of your racing efforts. We're all in this together now. (plus Cora was my grandma's name LoL) |

I have an Active quick turn throttle. It's made by the same company that makes Galespeed wheels. You can get different size tubes to quicken the throttle pull. I got mine from GP Tech. |

I fitted a Robby moto quick action throttle to my S1W this year. It comes with several choices of cam of which I opted for the quickest of all without trying any other. Running a HSR42 I didn't need to adjust the accelerator pump but I did have to have custom cables made. I went with 1.25mm stainless steel wire inside a Teflon sleeved outer. It was a simple job to design the cable and I used some of the attachments at the carb end off the original Buell cable. You should be aware there is no inbuilt throttle stop inside the Robby moto housing so the cable takes the strain at full throttle rather than the tube twisting to maximum stop and the cable just holding the slide WFO. It's not a problem for me and shouldn't be in any racing application. Of course, it remains to be seen how long the cable will last. Years I suspect. The result is fantastic. Where I had a stock 180deg twist from closed to full open, I now have half that at just 90deg twist. The throttle response is not so much quicker as such, but just more controllable in a lesser twist, and feels great. The one thing I have noticed is it being easier to control throttle behaviour for more bike control when up in a wheelie. Amazing. http://www.robbymotoeng.com/eng/02_enginnering/sit e_special_parts/catalogo/14-ComandiGasRapido.htm Rocket |

Thanks guys. Eboos, do you recall if you had to buy new cables for that unit, and if so, what were the lengths? I really like the setup of the active unit, just a little vague about fitment to the 1125r's. I do suppose a call to gp tech is in order, but I'm all excited and obsessed now after getting this info from you guys. COME ON SPRING! |

I used the middle length (900mm) cables for my setup. Just measure your current cables, and use the length closest to your current ones. Yes, you do need to buy the cables, but they are included in the purchase of the throttle setup. They were awesome to deal with. |

Get the type 1, not the type 2. I also replaced my switch housing with a unit from a Honda CBR600. It wasn't too hard to wire it. I needed the thinner switch housing due to the bar being otherwise crowded by adding the stand alone throttle. (Message edited by eboos on November 21, 2009) |

http://www.acv.co.jp/01_product/hi_thro_en.html looking here, Gonna give them a call on Monday. Yea as far as room-- I'm outta room. Have an MPS tether switch and it's the slimmest made, but now I will have to consider switch housing changes also. Should NEVER have tried racing-now I'm addicted and this just keeps getting more and more expensive (but worth it) |

Bott....word of advice on the MPS tether...do not as a course of normal use pull and reconnect the switch repeatedly...you will wear out the connectors and get erratic loss of contact that is a nightmare to find and fix...the problem is not due to poor construction, but rather from the intended use cycle rate...plug it in and only unplug it if required to pass tech....If it ever wears out, PM me and I will show you a simple mod that costs less than 4 bux and some small amount of time. You can gain the lost space back by removing the MPS device and instead use a properly mounted and secured 2 wire flat trailer plug (as an option)...it passed AMA/ProStar tech with no problems. And if you can ever catch Dan Rudd on a "not too busy" day...there is NONE better to discuss winning ET race tactics with...he is the Yoda mixed with Darth Vader of ET racing strategy. I'll pull a "Court" and say...let me tell you about the staging counter and the line lock one day. first, there is a teather switch sold by Schnitz, that replaces the 2 bolt clamp on your brake or clutch master, no extra room required. Second, we usually use the throttle housing and switch gear off any modern sportbike, they are all 1/4 turn at least, and very thin. (buell parts were not made by buell anyway (i dont think) |
