Road Racing World Magazine once again hits it out of the part with an excellent interview of Valentino Rossi. Just one quote from the interview...

"I think the 800cc is the biggest mistake of MotoGP in the last 15 years."

I agree!

If you enjoy insightful, honest, unbiased, objective reporting on sport bikes and motorcycle road racing, RoadRacingWorld and Motorcycle Technology is by far the best publication I've found.

The online version is wonderful and an amazing deal.

They aren't paying me to say this. I just feel that strongly about the integrity and quality of John Ulrich's publication. There's just nothing else that even comes close.

Road Racing World also has a lot of negative stuff to say about DMG Blake, or don't you read those insightful, honest, unbiased, objective bits ; )

Rossi has said the same thing at almost every interview since the 990 bikes were done to death, and to anyone that will listen, so it is hardly a scoop by RRW to be fair.

The difference is that John Ulrich attacks specific issues, especially those that affect him and his racing teams directly.

Mr. Ulrich avoids making sweeping generalizations aimed at maligning the DMG organization. He's points out problems, expresses his disappointment and offers solutions.

Good grief. Can we please have a discussion about motorcycle racing without you harping about DMG or bagging on something American?

God forbid any of us moronic colonists come up with anything good or interesting.

Another of the many interesting portions of the interview:

RRW: When I talked to Casey Stoner before the British Grand Prix he told me that he hated the electronics because he comes from 125cc, 250cc and dirt track where throttle control is in the wrist only, but he said that he is afraid that these 800cc engines would be impossible to ride without the traction control we have.

VR: Yeah, for me is true what Casey says but we need the 25% of the electronics that we have now to ride these bikes. Yes, electronics helps. We need this for safety, for less crashes, less injuries, but not, never, like this. Less than half is enough—maybe 25% is enough.

No, Trojan can't have a discussion. He hates America, Buell, DMG, Nicky Hayden, etc.

I have seen a few snippets in MCN about Dorna thinking about going back to 990cc powerplants. I think the original intention was to slow the machines down a bit as many felt the four stroke 990 machines had gotten so fast so quickly after the change from the 500cc two strokes that there may be debilitating injuries to riders as even the purpose built tracks in europe and around the world would not be safe at those speeds.

That being said the 800cc machines are getting faster, corner speeds on those machines are incredible and you can see the difference in the racing.

I loved the last two years of the 990cc machines as most of the grid were backing them into the corners, sliding all over the track, not to the extreme of Gary McCoy, but not many are that extreme, but I think it was really exciting to watch those bikes stepping out around the corners.

I also read an article about WSBK answering a rumor of MotoGP going to production based machines, and they didn't really like that too much, I don't think that will happen, but for sure MotoGP is extremely expensive to participate in, yet I think worth every penny to race fans.

I hope they bring them back, but I am not sure it is likely. The electronics seem a necessary evil with the corner speeds they are hitting, but I for one like to see the sliding, smoke coming off the tire in a corner style that McCoy, Hayden, and many others on the grid are capable of. I miss McCoy in GP, but I also miss Wayne Gardner, so there ya go. Good interview from Vale though, he is quite a character.

You could watch World Superstock, which runs with WSBK, to see bikes going sideways with zero electronics. It is a truly amazing racing and a great spectacle.

You could also watch McCoy riding the Triumph 675 in WSS, which runs with WSBK.

So what is the problem ?? There is a top series for every taste. With electronics, without electronics, 1000cc, 600cc, 800cc,. Just choose one.

The truth is, that the riders make the final difference. Stoner-Spies-Lorenzo-Rossi-Haga would win no matter what class they were racing, with/without electronics, special/ control tires. The rider makes the difference. That is an axiom.

I just do not understand Rossi's problem. As soon as it gets hard for him to win, there is something wrong. Electronics, control tires, over-competitive teamates etc. Rossi is a very rich-famous-legendary man, he should relax. He is getting old and it seems that he cannot accept that there are younger riders that are extremely fast and manage to beat him in many occasions.

If Hayden is not competitive in motoGP, he could do his carreer a favour and join WSBK and ride a 1000cc. Problem solved.

There is nothing wrong with the 800cc motoGP. It should be left alone. Continous changing of the rules will not help teams cut costs.

I don't think Matt is a hater, but I think he goes out of his way thinking he is being objective. His objectivity just seems to tend one direction, towards the negative.

He is more than just a critic though. The man did after all run a very successful Buell racing effort. Maybe he will again.

Since Colin Edwards mother was Australian does that make him an Australian Colonial as well?

Do you actualy mean "colonoscopisis" ? It exists in medical tests and they say it is very painful !

"Colos" means "a$$". "Scopisis" means "view", with an instrument like "tele-scope".......

Vagelis; a Colonoscopy is a medical procedure where a Doctor (a Gastro-Enterologist) inserts a camera into your bowels in order to examine your Colon and Large Intestine. It's a procedure usually reserved for older gentlemen. If you are going to have one done, I strongly recommend having some sort of anesthetic.

No, Trojan can't have a discussion. He hates America, Buell, DMG, Nicky Hayden, etc.

I don't hate anyone, it may surprise you to hear, not even you : )
However, unlike some here, I am not blinded by a flag or a company, so even though I am a Buell fanatic that doesn't mean I can't criticise when I feel it is in the wrong. Lest face it, it doesn't stop you criticising me if you think I am wrong : )

I certainly don't hate America (I own a condo in Florida after all ; ) )and have followed AMA racing for a lot longer than you could ever imagine, which is why I still have some passion for a sport that doesn't even affect my own country.

Maybe I should just join the rest of the YES men and we'll forget about free speach altogether?

You'll be pleased to know I'll be in hosptial for the rest for the week so won't bother you for a while (Just hope I don't come out feeling sore though) ; )

Out of all of the motorcycle journalists, I think that John Ulrich is the most honest and unbiased. Like Blake said, he addresses specific issues, and isn't a "hater" just for the sake of hating.

Wait a minute, you're wishing Matt's nurses are all GENTILE?

You have something against Jewish nurses?

Blake, Blake, Blake - I am ashamed of you!

I'd rather have GENTLE nurses - regardless of their religion!
