I would certainly hope that there are some trick components going into Steve's bike since the rules allow plenty of room for experimentation. Unfortunately, the rules for AMA Superbike are much more restrictive so if Steve's bike does have some very trick components, many of them likely won't be legal for AMA Superbike (until they're included on an homologation bike). I'm sure there is a lot going on behind the scenes and, while I'd love to know everything Dave McGrath knows, I'm content for now to let him do his job while I cheer the teams who are benefitting - not only from the engine work, but all the other work he is doing to develop these bikes. (Once Pete and Steve put the Deeley bike on the podium, we'll all at least get a glimpse at the dyno results). And I think nearly everyone here has to admit it's one of the all-time classic moments of Bad-Web when Dave McGrath himself stepped in and said: "Interesting. Please tell us more!" someone explain this. copied direct from buell tour!!! link at the bottom Race Shop Once a racer, always a racer. Erik Buell is actively involved in his company's racing operations. Once a racer, always a racer. Erik Buell is actively involved in his company's racing operations. Long before he was constructing motorcycles, Erik Buell was a racer – first in the dirt and then in the roadracing ranks. As such, it shouldn't be a surprise that he has a separate facility down Buell Drive in which Buell's racing activities stem from. Racing is something Erik Buell doesn't take lightly, and an indication of the company's commitment to competition is the recent hiring of David McGrath, an ex-Factory Honda Superbike crew chief who heads up Buell's racing activities. Although race parts are developed for the air-cooled XB platform, it's the recent introduction of the liquid-cooled 1125R sportbike that has put the company's racing activities on a higher plane. Young ex-dirt-tracker Danny Eslick has already carded three wins this year in the AMA's Daytona Sportbike class for the Rossmeyer GEICO Powersports RMR team, showing the potential of the V-Twin-powered machine. The race shop also develops equipment for the 1125R competing in the Canadian Superbike series. At the time of our tour, a Superbike built for the Canadian national events was sitting on a stand. Interestingly, the CSB machine had two horizontally placed radiators instead of the stock bike's laterally placed ones. It is hoped that the pair of small but thick rads will offer comparable cooling but with less weight. very interesting huh! i wasnt the first to see hear it. badweb class i see.. lol another under statement. all can insert foot in mouth who didnt believe me. its built already. plus more is being done every day towards a even better version. what I dont understand is 80% of the posters here lacking the ability to believe in Buells ability? but you say you support BUELL RACING. Making a mockery or there ability to produce a bike is a insult not to me but Buell. You should be ashamed. especially those paid by Buell. geesh #$%^& go buell racing. http://www.motorcycle.com/events/buell-factory-tour-88460.html (Message edited by on July 05, 2009) |

Ozzie: From the Mid-O website:
quote:Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course encompasses 330 acres; golf cars are available for rent to assist you in traversing the facility! Golf carts may be rented from the Golf Car & Equipment Company on a daily or weekend basis. Please call 1-800-589-8833 or log on to http://www.golfcarcompany.com to reserve your golf cart. Golf cart pick-up at the racetrack is located in the Golf Car Company building behind Guest Services, on the right as you head down the Boulevard. Personal golf carts (those not rented by the Golf Car & Equipment Company) require a $100.00 vehicle pass, purchased separate for each event, that must be displayed at all times. All golf carts must be operated by a licensed driver. No golf carts can be driven on spectator mounds throughout the facility.

It's BESON pipe (not to be confused with Walt Sipp's recent sponsorship by Bison). Back 5-6 years ago, he was building the pipes for the air-cooled race bikes. Tom Beson has been out of the business for more than a few years so you're not likely going to find one (bummer, I've fixed mine more than a few times) |
