I'll let Ozzie post up more info - I'm in a hurry today and haven't shrunken more than this one pic. Shawn was out racing this weekend as a starving privateer. Would have won both his heavyweight twins races if he hadn't had an electrical glitch on the "A" bike that caused him to have to pull out of Heavyweight Twins race. He then uncrated his Daytona bike for the Formula Twins and Formula One race (hard to think of it as a "B" bike). Keep in mind, Formula One is unrestricted - except 2 wheels. Riders like Aaron Gobert, Jeremy Toye, Jeff Tigert on bikes with 180-ish HP. So yes, he had to pull out of Heavyweight Twins (so yes, technically, I actually BEAT Shawn Higbee in a race!! - JOKE JOKE!!- no hate mail, PLEASE). Looks like a voltage gremlin hit a few of us this weekend. More stories later. Just wanted to get a pic of Ozzie and Mitsu working with Shawn on his bike between races:

I have to add that I did confirm last night that he truly IS the starving privateer. NO big name sponsor. He's hoping to get by on purse and contingency money until something comes along. Tough road but he's ready! I hate to miss Fontana!!! |

What kind of tire warmers are those? |

Don't let the socks fool you, they are Chicken Hawks. He put the other socks over them since Mitsu and Ozzie literally RACED to get the wheels and tires put onto the bike and tried to get some heat into them before the race - all this when the other bike died. Come to think of it, they might not have been ChickenHawks - they're black warmers but I'll see if Ozzie remembers. It was pretty chaotic and I had my own races to run. |

Some more picts from Sunday. Heavyweight Twins opening lap.
The "A" bike. I wonder what the difference between the two bikes was, maybe gearing, because he really walked away from everyone in the first race more so than the second race.

Last lap - Turn 8 - powers inside Reno Karimian (they had a great battle all race long)
Stuffs it inside David Anthony in Turn 9
But just can't quite hold them off long enough for the line.
Great racing there Shawn! See you at Fontana. |

Nice to see you again Brett and awesome pictures! The A bike is the Bartels bike. The B-bike is Shawn's bike. I believe they are fairly equal in setup. His tire pressure was a bit high in the Heavyweight twins race. That might have been the difference between the sprint races. That was adjusted for the F-1 race. As far as the tire warmers, I can not remember the brand name. I do not believe they were Chicken Hawks. |

"Holding off" Higbee.... RIIIIIiight!! You have no idea what a difference 15 seconds in average lap times means until you get passed up by somebody as quick as Higbee! Heck, even in the Formula One race, he was sticking with bikes with a 30-50 HP advantage. Amazing talent to see at work!! |

I think that it's time we stepped up and got some money to Shawn. Blake can we sell T shirts for Higbee racing through Bad Web. I think your reach would be greater than Shawn could through his own web site. We could actually generate some money this way after all some dealers keep themselves afloat in the winter time on T shirt sales. I don't know if we could put Buell on it I get confused with branding law, but I could always use another Buell shirt. I think Shawn should get the money versus anyone else and I'm not down grading any other riders efforts, because he is the only guy racing in Superbike and like it or not that is what is going to get the attention. |

We can't make Fon-Tucky. We're having to finish ALL the small stuff on the new house before moving. We're OUT of the old place at the end of the month. Still have to have alarms run out to the shop and paint the floors before moving stuff out there. Locksmith, some appliance stuff - but for the most part, we're committed for the next couple weeks. Bummed to miss Fontana but this is just how timing works out some days. |

I know that one difference between the ''a'' and ''b'' bikes is the suspension, front and rear. I worked with him during the daytona 200 swapping frames and rear shocks last minute. |

Anyone who wants to help support Higbee Racing--I'm all for it--please visit Shawn's website and/or send him your donation directly. Any other approach is problematic. |
