After months of working on this bike and getting it ready for the new season, today I am finally finished. I simply needed to put the finishing touches on the electrical work this morning, but to be done after all this time and so close to the VIR trip is a great sense of satisfaction. Here is a list of things that I have done this winter to it: Adapt a fairing bracket and add a fairing New rear shock Keyless ignition switch LED dummy lights for neutral and oil New muffler Add a DVR and camera Removed even more wiring Add Starlane GPS-R laptimer Paint bodywork Since I mostly did electrical work this winter, I was really worried that I might mess something up. After putting the final touches on the wiring, much to my wife's delight, I brought the bike back outside. First attempt at firing it up failed, so I checked the easiest of things first, and found that I needed to tighten the battery terminals a bit more. Second attempt gave me the result that I was looking for... Pure V-Twin thunder. I am so happy to finally be done. This is going to be a great year. |

Here's some info... This was so easy to install and set up, it was scary. I was really freaking out because it didn't come in until Thursday, and I am leaving for VIR this coming Sunday. When I got it, there was only the power wires that go directly to the battery and a RPM hookup that you can cable tie to the spark plug wire. Then all you do is set up the options in the menu on the display. So easy, and so sweet. Usually anything that easy is a nightmare. |

How'd you do the key? Do you need some sort of calibrated resistor or something, or can you just wire past it? |

I just wired it up and am hoping for the best. If it catches on fire, I'll be sure to let everyone know. I'll let everyone know Wednesday the 18th when I am back from VIR if it worked or not. So far everything is fine. |

I spliced together the accessory and the ignition wires and then added a switch from them to the power. This is a lighted switch so I also ran a ground wire from the headlight sub-harness to the switch so it lights up when on. I really Mickey Moused the crap out of everything, but I think it should work. |

I've also eliminated my keyed ignition. Hooking up a toggle switch is easy. There are 4 wires that enter the plug for the ignition. 2 are hot leads, one is accessory and the other is ignition. Just wire the access and ign to one side of a toggle switch and one power to the other side. The second hot wire becomes redundant and is not needed. I've had my bike set up this way for 2 1/2 racing seasons with no problems. Pete |
