Hi guys, looking for tips and info on race setups. Biggest worry is brakes, what kind of pads are you running? Have you changed to the 6mm race disk? or running std? http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?tpc=290431&post=1283355#POST1283355 any help much appreciated |

We run the buell race pads, pricey but work well. We also changed to the 6mm rotor from buell, warped the stock one in the first race. We run a Penskie rear shock. We are waiting for buell to sell the front race forks, we borrowed a set and they work very well. We have the race rotor and pads in stock for the 1125. |

Change your axle holders, these are from West Coast, and use a R6 front wheel and brembo monobloc calipers. They are track tested! you'll also warp the 6mm.

"They are track tested!" The ZTL2 brake system has also been "track tested" with great success for the past 3 years. It's nice to have options though. (Message edited by eboos on October 17, 2008) |

Buellyssus, where do you get those West Coast axle holders? I've sent them email and they don't respond. Thanks, Doug |

The ZTL2 brake system has also been "track tested" with great success for the past 3 years. It's nice to have options though. Pretty much all of the 1125's racing in Europe (Free Spirits, Buell Hannover, Macadam Moto, Ilmberger/Buell Bonn etc)have 'track tested' the ZTL and have changed to 'traditional' twin discs, whether that be Beringer, Sicom, Brembo or teh West Coast option of fitting new knuckles to the stock 1125 fork legs and using R6 components. If you are interested in the West Coast parts we can get them, although we wuld need to have around 5 orders to make it worthwhile for them to produce a batch. |

Sheepaholic, As an ex-racer who was almost always a privateer, I have been watching worldwide results closely on the 1125R. Although major brake changes are fun to do if you have the money, all you need are the race pads and 6mm disc. Good enough for many, many wins around the world, including an FIM championship. The reality of the success of the ZTL2 is there. The Macadam Moto bike mentioned above was beaten in every race by another Buell 1125R which had the ZTL. The Free Spirits bike was beaten by another Italian bike with ZTL2. When Shawn is turning 1:22.4's at Willow with 135HP, you know it isn't power, so the brakes must work. So if you are simply interested in a system that will get the business done, you'll be fine with the Buell racing parts that the dealers sell. I can guarantee if I were racing that's what I would use. |

I have the Buell race pads and did my first track day with them yesterday. I really like them. Much better than stock. But the track was very cold and damp. So I couldn't push real hard. |

Thanks for your advice guys. No way can change the ZTL2 as that would not meet our race class rules. And I can see the sense in the ZTL system and would really like to be racing a genuine Buell. This may mean I have to adjust my riding style |

Spend the extra cash and buy a Brembo master cylinder!!! It is so much better than the stock junk. makes a huge difference in feel and overall trailbraking. All the Canadian National guys have made the change with good reason. We ran all year on stock pads and rotors no problems. Stock pads dont last too long. Will try Buell brake stuff next year. |

Used to run Brembo masters on my other bikes but have been using GSXR1000K8 master on the most recent with great success (and I can get parts for it too) and have already put one on the 1125. I am heartened to here someone able to get a race out of the std disc without it warping, seems to be the biggest issue. I am trying to get hold of a 6mm race disc & pads asap as I have a major meeting coming up in two weeks and then the last round of the state titles two weeks after that. So if anyone can help ?...... |

Cool. . . just wanted to make certain. The single, in 15 years, most common reason I see for Buell stuff being delivered slow is "order was never placed". Best of luck and we'll be eager to hear about your racing. Australia has always been an important market for Buell and some of the neatest Buell events have taken place there. |
