Hey guys/gals, Wondering if there are any Dunlop racers out there on Buell XB's? I have raced Pirelli since '03 but it seems that they have cut back there contingency quite a bit up here in Washington State (WMRRA). It looks like Dunlop has really stepped up there contingency. Curious what other racers thoughts are on Dunlops. I hate to jump ship because of money but lets be honest this isn't a cheap sport. |

Have you tried Metzler Race Tech??? Sticky tires, slick on very side, and get good miles to a tire. I work at a bike shop in Australia and have tried a few different brands. The Metzlers were the best on the track and great on the road. Also very sticky in the wet. Mick. |

I think there are only a couple of us racing Dunlops on XB's so I'll give my opinion. I've used both and I prefer Dunlops to Pirellis any day. The Dunlop tire has a stiffer construction and will give you a better feeling on the side of the tire and offer superior edge grip. The 2008 spec tires are even better. |

Thanks guys. I have decided to stay with Pirelli for another year as things were getting to close to the start of the year to make a change at the last minute. |

Are you racing DOT's or slicks? Dunlop have changed their compounds and construction last year I think. I have a few friends who had been racing Pirelli who have switched to Dunlops and say great things about them. Metzler/Pirelli are the same construction in their DOT's (since they are now the same company) - different groove pattern but identical compound choices. Pirelli green/blue compounds will still only get you 2 full days. 3 if you're on slicks and reverse them on day 3. |
