That time is soon approaching. I saw a post recently here on the board (I think it was from Jim) about us needing Snell 2000 approved helmets on the salt this year. I just got my 2003 rulebook and the way I read it is Snell 95 or better is OK until January of 2006. Am I reading it correctly just want to be sure. Just don't want to get caught with my pants down when we get there to break all those records. Ray |

Ray,last year they had an addendum to the rulebooks requiring the 2000 Snell.I was suprised to see the old rule still there, but I bet that they will stick with new stuff and send out a clarification.---They definitely checked my helmet for it. |

Thanks Jim, I might go ahead and replace my lid just to be safe. Just hate to give up on a lid that is in perfect condition. Ray |

TEAM ELVES 2003 Okay...lots going on and let's start by getting a tad bit of information so some of you can start planning. EVENT: will be September 19-22 at The Bonneville Salt Flats. INFO: See: www.teamelves.com and www.saltflats.com HOTELS: THE WOZ is working "the deal" at present, more news in 10 days. Rooms will be scarce this year, plan accordingly. ENTRY FEES: If you paid last year or TEAM ELVES paid for you, it carries over to this year. I think there is some sort of an additional "handling" charge, I'll have to check. HELMETS: Remember the Snell 2002 standard will be enforced. I hope to have a smattering of "loaner" units from a helmet manufacturer. Deal is not locked down yet. GEAR: You are responsible for your own. 150 MPH ELF CRUISER: I am not sure if we are going to have a bike available for "Elf Use" this year. I will let you know. Our bike used in the past is presently going through a quite amazing transformation (all that can be presently said) and you may reserve a place in the record books for yet another Buell. This one, boys and girls, will most surely be a FIRST. ELF CHOW: If you paid last year, you'll get a 2003 ELF CHOW BADGE. If you are (we're already finding folks based only on lore from last year) bringing more of the family, you can buy additional badges. WOMEN: Captain Pete will likely be running personal ads seeking women who own cars or know of one that often has the keys left in it at night. We all have our preference as to who he brings but he seldom listens to us. MUSIC & FROLIC: There will be an "Elf Bash" with music by Cap'n Pete. Note to self: let Pete know about this. Bantz and FMJH may been seen wandering the streets, arm and arm, singing on about any given night that alky is sold. SAFETY & SECURITY: Rex Chaney dial the stadium operator. NEEDS: We will be flying in an Australian Chef and could use an assistant who can take orders, speak Australian and keep their mouth shut. Personal hygiene, although a consideration, is secondary. VOLUNTEERS: I need to get a list of volunteers, dumb suckers eager to do anything to be part of the team and willing to stand in hot places wearing a headset for extended periods of time reciting key phrases like "he's 3rd in line, get the chase crew movin'" REGISTRATION: We do the same on-line form. You can e-mail it or fax it. Same drill, we ask for a lot of information and assure you that NO ONE has access to it but Vickie. We expect folks from 8 different countries and 2 different planets and the last thing I, as an anal attentive Team Manager, need is your ass sprawled on the salt due to sunstroke or anything and not knowing who to contact, what your real name is (EMS does not recognize "BuellDude7" ), your blood type or allergies. Organization and preparedness are a key to the reputation TEAM ELVES enjoys at Bonneville. STYLE STATEMENTS: Again, khaki slacks and brown and white saddles are traditional Elf Wear. Thanks to Aaron being such a stick in the mud, jeans are accepted as well. Team Jerseys are available in limited quantity and my intent (the comment period is open for 10 more days) is to have a 2003 Team Elves Shirt and a patch to affix to the Jerseys sold last year. PATCH: I am accepting designs. All I ask is that it have TEAM ELVES 2003 on the top, World Land Speed Record Team on the bottom and depict and Elf in Scuba Gear riding an RR-1000. It must be consistent in size with the patches on the jerseys. LOCAL INFO: Do we have anyone within the sound of my voice in the Salt Lake City area? That's it for now...digest that, get you vacation requests in and come The Bonneville Salt Flats for you chance to see a Peter from Holland. Court TEAM ELVES P.S. - Blake - put a copy of this in the Bonneville section. |

Posted Anon to protect the reputaion of the cook from Oz PS: I take offence to placing Personal hygiene second it should be further down the list. PPS: By the way what is this hygiene stuff anyway.

Pete Mate, Make sure that when you do visit ,you arrive through the front door . As those that enter outback usually have a cool dark spot reserved for them. |

Gentlemen, Sadly I will not be able to attend this years' Bonneville Buell-Ganza. Recent development in the personal circumstances dictate different financial priorities, sadly. Next year I hope to be able to team up with FMJ and make myself known again. I will be attending this years' Santa Pod European dragrace-finals as some relief, though. Would have been great to be able to meet up with all of You again! I'll postpone that till next year, mind You. I'll be scanning Badweb through these next months for new facts on all Your Bonneville feats. Court; save me one of those new team-jerseys! Large, please. Ray; For You guys especially more luck this time, though Aaron's wizardry will likely stand for successes. Ross; Good luck on that business of Yours! -Luckily You're not starting a Vegemite business- Grizz; Seems like We're up sh*t creek both this year! Let's team up next year and make us Dutchies known in 2004! Sorry guys, Jilles.

Bummer, Jilles, we'll miss you. FYI, besides the RR which is getting some major changes, we're also working hard on a second race bike. Not the Blast, it's retired and living in Oregon now, this is a Buell twin with a very special motor, we're trying several new things. Plus we'll have the M2 for club activity of course, it's pulling over 120hp on pump gas now. Should be interesting, sure you won't change your mind? edited by aaron on July 17, 2003 |

Jilles, Major bummer man, hate to hear that you won't be there. Things are looking much better this year in terms of preparation. Even though I didn't run, I did learn alot about what I needed to do this year. Aaron has finished with his magic on the engine and now I'm doing the clean-up work. I'll try to make us all proud. You will be sorely missed, look forward to seeing you in 2004. Ray |

Well, my plans are firming up. Got my plane tickets. Talked to Susan and got some sleeping space reserved. Talked to Justin and got some parts on order. All I need is for the rest of my plans to come to geather. Here is the plan: Arive in Atlanta, Pick up my firebolt, get new tires. Head north to PA see kin. Head west, stop in CO, put new stuff on bolt (mabey new tires). Follow everyone to Utah help in anyway I can and not get in the way. Then when all is done for this year head back to Atlanta and fly home. Will It Happen? YES See everyone in September. SteveP |

You will need to be there to find out Pete. Steve looking forward to seeing you along with all the other folks in September. Sleeping may be a bit difficult this year at Chateau Wilson without the dulcet tones of our British mate to gently waft us off to sleep each night. |

Chainsaw; awesome looking patch art. I'm not sure we can claim a "World" land speed record?? I think you need to set the record at the FIM event to do so?? The second patch is my favorite. If that's what we go with I'll send you the Illustrator file for the pegasus so you can get the exact shape and the correct blue color. Thanks Henrik |

Aaron, Did I interpret your previous message correctly? Your mighty M2 will be available for 130 Club runs? It this point I have every plan to be there this year. Calender is cleared, time off scheduled etc. I want to do the 130 but not sure if my M2 or the soon to be latest acquisition is up to the task. (I pick up another bike tomorrow) I'm going to bring one of them but it would sure would be a let down to make the trip and not make the "Club". It would be nice to have a backup plan. Thanks! Brad
