I actually ran across those last year when I was shopping for front fenders.Seems to me there was a physicist/professor type touting them as the next best thing.Kinda pricey,I will have to see if I can remember where I saw em,musta been on some bodywork website like Sharkskinz, etc. |

Jim, Remember the guy we saw at Bonneville last year? We were in one of those 3 mile long lines and we walked to the front. He was right at the front. I thought he called it a Rhino or something like that. Didn't do him any good (according to him). Cheers, -JW:> |

The dirty bastards!!Just got my 2003 rulebook and they have added a twist to the Special Construction class(A)like the APS 1650cc PG for example--the seat height has to be no higher than the rear tire. There goes a whole bunch of records for Roc,me,Choptop, and my second bike.(Though I did not realize there was a production supercharged class---cool!!)Before all we had to do was move the footpegs back. |

Jim, We have been discussing this new "altered" class rulings and there is more than that involved. It was 72 inch wheelbase - now 68 inch is modified limit, gas tank size and footpeg location no longer dictates your class, actually I think this is a good change. |

Cute little trailer there. Are they now unveiling their new work, or is this post-unveiling from last year? |

Mike, Quite a few were asking for pictures of the bike (actually the fairing) a few months ago ... finally found one. Cheers, -JW:> |

Monday May 19th 2003 (El Mirage summary from Landracing.com.) On the motorcycle side of impound John Noonan rode his 1650-APS-BG Hayabusa to an unreal 232 record. John is now the fastest sit on bike at Bonneville and the lakes. This bears repeating, John Noonan rode the blown, gas Hayabusa to two records. The first in the 1650-APS-BG class put everyone on the floor Saturday at 221. Sunday John was feeling pretty good and ran his fantastic 232 record in the same class. Also note 200 MPH Club member Jason McVicar from Canada way, ran his 100-APS-G Yamaha at 179 this trip! Motorcycles were not to be left out of the fun with several records set. Petit Cathy Butler had the 50-P-P Van Butler Racing Aprilla buzzing to a 75 MPH record. -JW:> |

This little freebee from NASA could turn out to be quite interesting for the Elves ... Quite a learning curve I'm sure, and it would be a bitch to model the RR1000 fairing before even getting started. But interesting. Henrik |

We had a good weekend at Maxton. Dale A was able to get his new HeadQuarters top end working good and raised the bar to 141+mph on the 1000 P/PP class taking the ECTA record back from the Guzzi guys. We will attempt to raise his current Bonneville record this Sept. Progress was made on our 100 inch Race bike "Whiplash". A new swingarm setup with rear suspension and a different setup geometry eliminated some handling problems. Zipper's has donated some top-end work and we are putting out a few more ponies than before. Some last minute bike work at the track prevented us from making all the runs we wanted but we're happy in our progress. The next meet at Maxton is June 28-29th, and is the last meet before Utah. We'll be there with bells on and would love to see some East coasters there. http://www.ecta-lsr.com/index.htm |

That's Ray Kimbro and Julie Balassa with Whiplash. The red bike in the back is a true 883 named Destiny and is owned by Larry Young. It has been into the 130's several times and might go to Utah. (Message edited by jssport on May 29, 2003, %time) |

Jss, Congrats! On both the new record and on being the first to post after BadWeB's move to our very own new server. How about some more details? What was the old Guzzi record and did they try to defend it? Cool stuff! To bad the big bike wasn't able to run. Will it also be going after a Guzzi held record? The Guzzi guys sure do like to brag on their site. Methinks they could use a dose of reality, American V-Twin style. |

Sydney Conn took back the 1000cc production pushrod record late last year. This is the record that drug us into LSR in 2000. We have gone round and round with these guys and they're great competitors. Guzzi was not in attendance at Maxton in May, but they're always showing up when you least expect them. I rode Dale's bike (Mystery Evo) in 2001 to a new record of 136 mph at Maxton, then Sydney jumped it to a 138 last year. Dale got the big ticket of 143 at Utah in 2001 with rider Timbo Horton (Firebolt owner now, he's in here somewhere) and the help of everybody's favorite tech/tuner Aaron Wilson. This last winter, Doug Coffee of HeadQuarter's built Dale a new top-end. He is now putting out about 5 more HP than his record Utah run. We expect to raise the bar on this class and keep looking over our shoulders expecting to see a Firebolt, but none have appeared... yet. We should be able to wring the 100 inch motor next month. The new rear suspension should allow us to "hit it" easier on Maxton's concrete and close in on our goals. Right now the words,"Altered, Fairing, and Nitrous" are prominate in our conversations. I think the USFRA meet in Sept is going to be great for everyone. |

Anyone got a 55T rear pulley they'd be willing to donate to Susan's new race bike? |

I did have, but I donated it to SteveP a few weeks ago...... I also gave my other one to a work colleague when he bought my M2. I'll ask him if he wants it. |

Aaron: Have any of you been able to determine the max HP that a FI bike can make, without changing the throttle body? Somewhere I heard/read that 120RWHP was about the limit. Any thoughts? Thanks |
