I count myself among the unsung "majority" of those following along intently and wishing Bison and Walt and Buell and whomever else may turn up, the greatest of success' in whatever their endeavors..... I am not a huge racing fan, I've done some trackdays, went to Laguna for the Return of the GP, made it to Daytona for the 200 last year and am hopeful of being there this year...even with a family vacation to orlando happening the following week....It's something I dearly want to see....Buell participating. Making it known that we won't go quietly into that good night. That doable isn't a figment. I have faith... HOPE! I know there are struggles along the way to any worthy accomplishment and that milestones along the path may be seen as failures (If it doesn't kill you it makes you strongerer) I was priviledged enough to be at th ewinter dealer meeting in Orlando and right ther in the middle of the Buell exhibit was Jezza's 999. somebody is proud of that vehicle. So am I. It's a direction I want the company to be headed in. It's a direction they were headed in waaaaay before we knew about it. It is a direction, and a continual progression towards something all of us want. I don't think any announcements made at that dealer meeting contradict the assumption that the path is still headed somewhere. You all....instant gratification and give me's......I can't put this book down. eagerly awaiting the next chapter, it hasn't been written yet, but I can't wait. I spoke at moderate length with the man, and Erik is obviously excited about something, members of this board who "may" have inside info are excited about something, Individuals deep into the different projects "ongoing" at Buell are very excited......and it AIN'T about dirt bikes. That's the optomist in me. Why? Buell has been a REALLY cool part of my life for the past seven years. All warm and snuggly? no. But the people associated are unlike any other. I feel strongly about all this and reading alot of the posts just reinforces my view of the short sightedness of alot of people. I am not short of patience nor am I short of dissapointments....However.... I might diverge from the masses in this thread, in saying that if it weren't for the minority, whom do speak up to extoll the mis-steps of our incessantly "rooted for" underdog, there wouldn't be that challenge.... bourne to drive. If you think Erik isn't spitting in the face of the big four you're kidding yourself. Anybody who may have witnessed his excitement at Daytona, The lengths the company's gone through getting the bike legal, joining the board of the AMA, the pride he projects, whenever he's broached about the company's future. His excitement about the future(whatever that may bring) is evident in spades. I'll continue to hold my breath. Let them speak, the reward will be in the I told you so's. and hope that it spawns the same type of motivation that brought us to Daytona in the first place. |

Shazam, I was in a class this weekend. Buell had labeled classes of bikes. Buell also mentioned recently they were building dirtbikes within two years and also mentioned hypersports. In the competitive model chart, the Ducati 1098 was the only bike listed under hypersport. Before I thought maybe they were doing a Busa or ZX14 type of bike, but they printed 1098 under hypersport. You could definately say I'm excited as to what the future may hold. The one thing I can be pretty sure about is this though. Buell is usually good at keeping their best stuff secret. They sure as heck announced dirt bike pretty loud. So far no hints as to what the 25th anniversary stuff will be. I'm a dreamer, sorry. Josh |

>>>>His excitement about the future(whatever that may bring) is evident in spades. That excitement is rooted in fact and it's genuine as can be. In addition, I feel confident in saying that Erik will be rooting just as vigorously for one Buell as he was for four. I know you guys have tired of hearing it from me. . . but Buell Racing is beginning not ending. Trust me there are a number of folks giggling at what we're calling the "3P's" . . (pulled plug posts). Ahhh....to have that type of leisure time. GO WALT! Court |

You know, when I look back through this thread I really am confused as to how and why I'm the major protagonist in it. My first two posts were carefully penned so as not to offend, or more, not start a war. When I read the thread again I see why it went off the rails, and I know who's responsible for making that happen. I also know that I can't help myself for taking the bait. I have made derogatory personal comments in this thread too. I can't and won't apologise for them. My reasons need no explanation. Suffice to say, a very good friend has asked me not to continue in this kind of activity on the BadWeB, anywhere. I sincerely hope I can do so, but not for the sakes of those who deserved what they got. In future, if I feel the need to insult some people I'm going to be trying very very very hard not to. That's why I want some to know, again they know who they are, when I'm trying very very very hard not to insult you, don't think for a minute I'm not screaming out loud what I'm dying to post. You just can't hear me. Now I've got that off my chest there's something more important to take care of. The XBRR racing at Daytona. Whatever this thread sounds like to those involved in this great happening, I'd like to offer an apology for using this thread to express what my preferences are where supporting such efforts in motorcycle racing of any kind are concerned. I am at fault for being a little insensitive with some of my comments, but I swear to you guys my first posts in this thread were as genuine as the day is long. Unfortunately some people I just can't see eye to eye with, I felt provoked by in this thread, so I took the opportunity to express some stuff that should not have diminished in any way your efforts at Daytona on the XBRR. That was not nor never was my intention. To criticise Buell, yes I hold my hand up. Even if I'm way off base in criticising Buell, I was wrong to do it in a way that appeared to criticise your efforts in racing a Buell. I sincerely apologise for that, and further, I wish you all the success in the world at Daytona. Rocket |

I'm the major protagonist Quick, jump in there and change that to antagonist, before one of the radical protagonists sees it. That was a worse mistake than calling Blake a liberal. (I just got a Writing for Dummies book the other day from an anonymous critic, and that's where I learned the difference.) (The Psychology self-help book did not arrive anonymously. But, I did the right thing, and sent it back to her.) |

Brian & Adrian I would like to give a little background on the relationship between Walt and myself. As you may recall Walt posted some time ago that he was in need of some sponsorship help since his previous sponsor was spending his money in a different direction. Because I had acquired a XBRR and have loved motorcycles all my life I phoned Walt to discuss the situation. I liked what I heard and decided to try to help on a limited basis. Finances are always relative but I will say that we are what I consider comfortable but not wealthy. Having said that the relationship with Walt has just grown and evolved to this 200 thing and as I have said as many AMA FX races as he can get the time off work to contest. Since I am in much deeper than I originally intended Walt is doing an amazing amount on his own specifically all the bike preparation labour and logistics from the AMA side. I am capable and would help more but am 1500 miles from Walt so I delivered my XBRR to him. The bottom line is that Walt is doing some of finances with his own money and I know that any help you would like to give to Walt would be appreciated. As he stated before he doesn't feel that the Badweb money should be directed to him. At this stage I believe he would be using any help for traveling fuel. I hope this comes across as intended not as a solicitation but as an answer to your queries as to where to possibly send your help. Walt's address is Walt Sipp BSHD 3100 NW Jefferson St. Blue Springs, MO 64015 regards ref |

Dick, Thanks for the reply, and I and I'm sure everyone else appreciate the background I was hopping Badweb as a group would try to help anyone campaigning the FX circuit since it is a major undertaking. It seems everyone would rather point fingers and badmouth people than to help where it is needed. If you and Walt will make it to any of the California races I offer my help physically as well as financially. In the mean time I will send a check for $300 to Walt, and i'm sorry I cannot be of any other help at Daytona. Best of luck! Brian |

Rocket sez: "You know, when I look back through this thread I really am confused as to how and why I'm the major protagonist in it. Good gawd man, you are going soft. I take exception to your claim to be the "pro" antagonist in this thread, after all, it was I who coined the "3P's" term "pulled the plug" in this regard. Shouldn't I be the pro antagonist? If Court and others are giggling at my 3P's posts, doesn't that give me more street cred than you? Why on Earth they think it is funny that HD pulled the funding out from under Erik after he made his now famous (thanks to Jscott) 'wait til next year speech', I will never know, but that is irrelevant. The fact is I had them laughing and you just pissed them off. The fact that what they were laughing at wasn't funny, is also irrelevant. I win. It takes more than just being British with that wit and stiff upper lip, then calling a few people names to be The Pro Antagonist on this thread! You have to first get them giggling}. jimidan |

Well Jimi, if one can't laugh at ones self, then who can laugh at anyone? From my second post in this thread, the humour went over everyones head. Maybe y'all think I'm this good. Memo to oneself. Stop fibbing! but we could do with your lard arse piloting though Rocket Forgive me for thinking you'd all take this as a joke. Clearly you all see me as better than that Irish fella Rocket |

Hey Rocket, most of these guys aren't really tuned into your Benny Hill wit, so it is lost on them. But I don't think their opinions, as expressed with stars and verbiage, is based on not getting your jokes as much as the tone of the posts. Also, Americans do NOT like to have their faults pointed out to them by foreigners...call it blatant tribalism. The record is plenty clear about that.. Admittedly, some are pretty thin-skinned and they read stuff into a post that really isn't there if they perceive any thing that could be construed as criticism, constructive or not. Constructive criticism seems to get lost in the printed word since it is difficult to convey a non-aggressive demeanor without facial expressions. Sure, emoticons are better than nothing, but so much of our communication is through facial expressions. At least it certainly seems that way on some of my posts where I get the "why do you have to be so negative" spiel, when I am just offering a slight rebuttal. I wouldn't let it bother you too much, as you are way over there and most of them are over here...so it is not like you are going to run into them at an event and they pull out a gun and shoot you! If they didn't have you to beat up on, they wouldn't be nearly as happy...Americans need their whipping boys, it is a holdover from all those years of slavery. jimidan (Message edited by jimidan on February 13, 2007) |

latest from the press [SuperBike Planet]: "....After all of the hubris and tempest-in-a-teapot controversy that the Buell XBRR brought with it last year, 2007 is absolutely the opposite. Just a handful of the "American sportbikes" are entered in the 200 and just two XBRRs were pre-entered in the Daytona 200. This is a fairly sad statement from a bike pumped up by Buell as a machine "designed and purpose-built to compete with the other teams at the highest levels". Clearly, the hype of the XBRR never, or best-case scenario, hasn't yet, made up for the fact that the XBRRs are slow. The fact that Buell presumably made 50 of these machines and only two of them are in the Daytona 200, one year after the machine was introduced, speaks the loudest....."
