Brad, Art from our Group, dropped the JAWA off to Brian in Cheyenne, Wy....it found it's way to Brian! Art even cleaned the salt off of it at the local Wendover car wash. It is a pretty cool ole bike. Dale A. |

Bluz - very nice to meet you also. Meeting new Buellers and seeing others again is always great. It was the best part of my trip. Training was fine and I think I passed all of the tests they had for me, a busy two weeks for sure. The worst part about training was layng awake at night and thinking about the S2. I would like to thank my Dad for joining me at Bonneville again. My ability to go was in large part due to his participation. I would also like to point out all of the time that Tom, Road Thing, put into helping out the guy with the turbo 'zuk - who needed it as he had shown up alone. The Elves have a great reputaion on the salt for good reason. I look forward to seeing you all again and to going faster. |

Roc, Damn, I knew I should of went and just put everything on hold here. I be out'a the loop dude. Training for what? So I'm cornfused, did you get a record or not? If so, what was the speed? Oh yea, Dads can be "cool" people! Did you party with FMJ? He’s one tough hombre. Last year, he made me realize what a freaking old fart I really am. He was as fresh as a daisy everyday, on a couple hours of sleep after we slammed drinks all night. Pretty amazing dude. -JW:> |

Aaron, FMJ, I realize I'm talking about 2 different events but how were the lines this year? Was the stage area 3 miles away from the compound? -JW:> |

We used the international course again just like last October (the course that starts near the access road). But USFRA puts the paddock close to the start line instead of at the 3-mile marker like SCTA. No twice-a-day shutdowns and course reversals for FIA sanction. The lines weren't too bad, I think the longest I waited was maybe an hour and a half. Lots of times it was real short though. I sent in my entry for next month. Just finished the S1, it's ready. Should have the RR repaired and ready next weekend. edited by aaron on September 27, 2003 |

Aaron, Is the RR going back as a 2000cc entry ? What was the extent of the fairing damage on the RR's mishap?, mostly windscreen?, any damage to the rest of the bike? break a leg..... JimS |

Jim ... 2000cc is under investigation now. Depends on the lead time on some parts. The right side fairing lower has some minor fiberglass damage. Not sure if I'll fix it before then or not. Nothing else hurt. |

Jim W - Training to sell commercial real estate, too far removed from motorcycles but I don't have good options. I set two records, both around 100. I am not happy with the speed but I couldn't do anything about that. Yes FMJ is a good guy for sure. |

Roc, Hope things work out for ya with the new job. Congrats on the new records! Hey, nothing wrong with the freaking speed, no one else had the balls or greenbacks to do it ...... give yourself a break! You've got a whole year to sort out the problem now, more experience and a record under your belt. -JW:> |

Roc: It was great meeting you & your Dad. Thanks for letting me nap in your shade! I really enjoyed working with Jack Christer on the turbo bike, but I kinda hated missing out on the time in the Buell pits. In the end, it looked like Jack needed the help more than any of the Buell racers, because the Elves were so well organized! r-t |

Paul back in Oz. Some not to coherrent thought's about the last couple of weeks. Why I prefer women, kissing Aaron after the 156 mph pass on the RRS2 made me realise beards are scratchy. ( the opportunity you gave me I will never be able to pay back but if you need it just ask and I will try.) The family that races together WINS !!! I was so pumped at the race efforts of the German family and to walk away with 2 records was just great. The look on Ray's face when he cracked a 100 mph on that blast said it all. Some one yelled out get a haircut, this struck me as a very 60's comment directed at our mate Chop, then I realized they where refering to his ride not his head. Steve (The Grill man) Iron butt, this guy fly's from Europe then rides 3 Thousand miles plus to get to tha salt flogs the tits out of his bike and then heads off to put a few more Thousand miles under the wheels to get home, says a lot about his riding ability and the XB's reliability. FMJ forget his record's or hospitality putting me up or getting me a an XB12R to flog around his best twisty roads, he drops me of at the ferry terminal to head to SF in The Fire Truck every little boy's dream. PS: next time you see FMJ ask him how much an XB12R Indicator lense is worth. Thing's to do and not to do in Wendover or on the Salt. Don't put your Helmet in the back of Snail's chase truck, he sent his daughter back to find his key's to his bike (which he had all the time) with my helmet and his gloves in the back, it's nervous enough standing at the start line but more so without your gear. Do shop at Smith's west end of town evrything you want and as cheap as Co. In Oz we go bush for some R&R but in Wendover if you go to the American Bush Do take a Candidate with you for safty sake. Don't stop in the main street of Wendover at 5am with Road Thing for a Photo Opp the local police will light you up and scare you half to death. Do watch the sunrise over the salt at least once in your life you will not be disapointed. Dont discuss the posibility of a girl wearing a wig with Roc's dad at midnight in a casino, he is just as likly to go over and give it a tug to prove the point. For all of the excitment of the Salt,Wendover after dark, the bikes and the speed, the thing that will remain with me for ever is the people. Be they Buell, Sporster, British or Jappanese riders or just supporters of family member's you pass this way once but and these are people you need to meet and be able to call freind's |

Paul: Well said, mate! It was a great weekend! I truly enjoyed making your acquaintance, as well as the other 40 or so Elves in atendance. What a great group of folks! The contingent from Down Under, Henrik my dumpster-diving compadre, Aaron & Susan, the Nallins, FMJ and James, Ray and the family German, Roc & Doug, BluzM2, Snail & Kim, Jack V V, Steve the IronButt BBQ king, Woz, the entire Galbraith team (Chop, if you're listening, you're a lucky guy--a beautiful lady, the coolest dad on two wheels, and the hairiest pit-bike I've ever seen!), Josh, Bob & Deb, it was a pleasure meeting all of ya'll. If I've left anybody out, I probably enjoyed meeting you, too! r-t edited by road_thing on September 28, 2003 |

Just an update for everyone. I made it to Knoxville on Thursday night. Went to the demo on Friday. Erik Buell was not able to be there. I was able to ride the new XB12, Both the R and S. Don't care for the S. I am now in Atlanta and packing to head to Belgium later today. I will post more about my trip when I get home. I put 5128 miles on the firebolt this trip. Many thanks to Aaron and Susan. SteveP |

Thanks for checking in, Steve, and thanks for the call, good to know you made it safely. Great seeing you again and we'll meet up again I'm sure! Ditto my friend Paul, who travelled even farther to join us and be a part of it all. Hope you both can make it back next year, my door is always open. |

Steve, Glad to hear you made the trek back home safely. It was great to meet you, I hope our paths cross again. Maybe next year? I should have given you the BBQ tool set, you put them to much better use then I! Not sure where you would have put them on the ride home..... Have a safe trip back across the pond.
