Uh....negatory there gear-head.....make that rate a 10% Elf-duction from the posted rate....figure on paying a parsimonious $50 per night with a limit of 4 (I held out for 12) per room. And...yes...I've changed your reservation to reflect the NEW IMPROVED REVISED FRUGAL ELF RATE. NOTE: When you call, you are to ask for Carrie and cry ..."for I am a lost and wandering Elf who has lost my way from the Great Salt Lake and come to the thin air of Wilsonville to comisserate with my politically diverse and geographically dispersed playmates. I, state your full name, do hearby swear and affirm, in consideration for Super 8 allowing me, my group of 9and the flattened Armadillo to occupy this room, that I DO NOT KNOW, NOR SHALL I ASSOCIATE WITH, THE FILTHY MOUTHED BRIT".... Henrik: Get this and the directions on the map. |

Aaron, Any chance there are some of the Sportster group still at your place?? We want to run our bikes at the October Ecta event and would like some advice. Rattler and Snyder come to mind right away. Sorry I can't make the shindig in Colorado, and yes I will pay the patch fine. We are re-tooling our fried crank in hopes of running hard in North Carolina. Take Care and all my best to the group you're assembling. BLM is very negative about any more racing this year. Last time they had water like this the Salt was down a year or so, but that was before the "save the salt" people got started pumping so everything on this go around is a crap shoot. May I recommend everyone donate to the "Save the Salt" cause. Information is on the USFRA web site. Paul |

Team Elves, Have a slab or two or three for me, wish I could have stayed around. Commitments to loved ones here in Kansas. The three wheeled Blast contingent arrived home intact, although I chased a thunderstorm all the way home. Thanks goes to Aaron & Susan Wilson for their hospitality during the Dyno party. Aaron for his help to get everything from my Blast. Rocket & Paul for their trying to raise my spirits after the dyno runs. Jiles for giving a shit. To Peter for the fine welding on my pipe. And all that I met during my stay in Berthoud. I must say that you are a special crew. I wish that I could have stayed, the comradery was fabulous. I look forward to seeing you all next year when we make another stab at the records with a hack. Again, Thank You I only wish that this experience could have extended to the salt. You are all wonderful folks and I hope to meet you all very soon. Ray |

Someone DID call Brian and Richard, right? Man that would stink to be sitting in an airport, waiting for no one to pick you up to take you to your non-existant hotel room to wait for the race that had been canceled.... |

If you are coming through Cheyenne (about an hour north of Berthoud) and need anything, dont hesitate to ring here either. Had a conflict for Bonniville early on, but can offer help or space to those who may need it. 307-421-2642 Jim |

Maduck, Crim and Art are due back today, Dale is taking the long way home. I am trying to mount an Oct run but right now it is all written in pencil (and crayola's). I was scheduled to fly out Wed morning so the cancellation Tues allowed me to save my vacation days. A friend with a V-10 ext van and 17ft trailer is seriously considering driving me out in Oct. We should have plenty of room with that setup and we'd be willing to help out ANYONE associated with Team Elves and/or Aaron Wilson in any way possible. I might have to go it alone. I'll know more in a few days after everyone returns and we take inventory of our resources. ($$$$) |

A new LandSpeed record was set today. It appears that someone has rented the fastest car available from the SLC rental fleet, stopped in at a local NAPA parts store and made a few "modifications" to the vehicle's fuel injection and electronic speed controls, and was last see traversing I-80 across Wyoming in excess of 200mph. The duo's last words as they departed the airport terminal rental office was something to the effect of teaching someone called Berthoud a lesson in manners and logistics, the other member of the duo (assumed to be a brother) mentioned something to do with a pork chop bone that was either unintelligible or unrepeatable. The duo also mentioned something about a NewYork Palm Pilot, but the gate attendant assumed it must have had something to do with their flight. An additional sighting was made near Rawlins, a gas station attendant said two guys in a steaming car with smoking tires pulled up to the pumps and managed to get the fuel nozzles from both sides of the pump into the vehicle's filler tube. He'd never seen that done before, but did mention it was the fastest "pit stop" he'd ever seen there, and said that "pit stop" was the only way to describe it. One of the duo was also seen dumping a yellowish liquid out of a wide-mouth Nestea bottle, but nobody had the nerve to approach them to ask what the fluid was. The tire smoke is still clearing from the air from the duo's departure from the filling station. A foreward caution to all slow moving vehicles near Laramie or Cheyenne, hug the right lane line 'cause you're about to get flashed. This last note was taken from an anonymous driver in eastern Utah who said a large dark vehicle was seen earlier in the day heading up the hill from SLC with what can only be described as a huge moon in the vehicle's rear tinted window. |
