I just got a call from the salt flats association, all they could say is "we hope you can come out next year." This really sucks. I guess I lost my entry fee too. I'm packed and ready to leave work in a few hours. What to do, what to do? I'm gonna do something dammit an it involves riding. I guess I'll continue on to Vegas unless others here can reply quickly with an alternative. I know I'd like to see everyone who conglomerated at the Wilson's Ranch but won't show up uninvited. Guess I'll call up there now and see what they've decided. |

Damn. Non-refundable plane ticket, time scheduled off from work, etc. etc. Not to mention all the time guys/gals have put into preparing bikes. Bob, post or email me if you hear from the crew at Casa de Wilson on what, if anything, is going on. |

Someone at the Wilsons, drop me an e-mail quickly with a phone number I can call. Or call me at 281-543-7800. I want to discuss new plans. Blake: contact me also. |

I must say I am now very afraid. All this energy has been turned loose and now has no outlet. I am issuing a warning to all citizens in the rocky mountins to stay indoor this weekend, Rocket et.l. are on the loose!!!! What a drag! |

Oct. 16-19 World Finals, Bonneville, UT. I've already got the entry forms printed. I'm planning on going. BBQ in Sac? Sure. Hell, I've even got room to put a few of ya up for the night. I'm sure we could come up with some more space for others. We could do a ride up to Donner, or out the San Fran. Whatever. |

Aaron, Sean, etc., Is this offical (canceled)? I got up this morning and had 2 flat tires (one on my trailer, the other my truck). I just got both "brand new" flat tires patched and was heading out for the Stateline this morning (what a drag). The good news, on the other hand, at least I didn't make the trip for nothing. Has anyone called Stateline to cancel their reservations. If so, any problems with doing so? Before I call, I wanted an offical answer of Bonneville being canceled. Bumber, -JW:> |

Shit, If this is indeed true, can't we put paddle tires on the bikes and outriggers and hit Bonneville anyway? S'later, -JW:> |

Jim - check www.saltflats.com, unfortunately it sounds to be offical. |

What do you all think about heading to American Sport Bike's Customer Appreciation BBQ this Sunday in Vista, Ca and bring the race bikes? He's having a bike show too. It would be cool to see the results of everybody's hard work and not let that effort go unappreciated. Maybe it'll work out OK after all that Tat picked the Bonneville weekend for his party. ASB directions: Plug this address 1341 Distribution Way, Vista, CA, 92083 into www.expedia.com: www.expedia.com. If you decide to do this though, please RSVP him ASAP. Yesterday was his RSVP deadline. Sparky |

Well, we could always head out to the Black Rock Desert and run the bikes there. It's at the same elevation as Bonneville, so you'd get a pretty good indication of how they would do. |

Yes that's true Jeff. But I'm looking for a BIG trip. There's talk of trying to go to the ASB BBQ in Cali. There's also the trip out east to Ohio, PA and WVa I've been wanting to do. I'm going to have to wait it out a couple hours now and make a decision. I was really looking forward to hanging out with everyone who crossed land and sea. Right now I'm up for most anything. |

TEAM ELVES: THE PLAN....... Okay . . . shake the tears and admit it this SUCKS. What a major dissappointment. But Father Gess hit it on the head, we need to channel all this energy. Here's my plan to all enroute and ships at sea. HEAD TO BERTHOUD, CO The Europeans are already bringing bikes. Folks are bringing spare bikes and we are going to get all these friends together from around the world(and Texas) and celebrate our wonderful friendships, theorize about how fast we would have gone and commiserate about lost deposits. The event, hereby dubbed "Colo-Ganza 2002" will culminate with Paul, Vickie and some yet-to-b-named calebrity chefs preparing BBQ. Now, for some of you coming from the West, this deal may not work and my suggestion is that you give serious consideration to getting to the American Sportbike BBQ which is going to be AWESOME. If you ARE going to head there, please click on their button here, get the number and call Maria immediately as she's headed out to shop for food. Details, directions and infor will follow. Court |

Court, Suggest it may be worthwhile to contact the WOS person in charge to be sure they have fully and carefully considered their decision. It doesn't quite make sense to me, and my experience is that often the decision maker is simply wanting to take a vacation from the hassle and thus leans towards the easy way out. Apparently they have cancelled based in some part on pure speculation... Quote:Due to the large amount of rain received yesterday and expected again today, ..."
I'd not give up so easily. Give me a phone number, I'll make the call. Shoot, a delay would be better than cancellation. Once the sun comes out and the winds pick up, how long does it take for the salt to dry anyway? Blake (still in denial) |

If we go to Colorado when are we expected? Are there hotels close? Aaron - are you open to a trade? Maybe ammunition and booze for some dyno time? Safety first! The ASB party sounds great, but: 1. Rocket isn't there, 2. I want to see FMJ's bike, 3. Peter's input is needed on the S2's turbo - I may have just recieved some extra development time. |

Okay, I have a choice to make - I can cancel my plane ticket and try to get a credit for a later flight and... Hop on the S2 and head out to Berthoud (1700 miles by mapquest) for the commiseration party. Or I can fly out to Salt Lake and rent a car, and go to Berthoud for the commiseration party. Anyone want to make the ride from the East? |

I was precisely where you are.....as I was talking to the TV station in Salt Lake City who wanted to do the TEAM ELVES special. But, alas, cancelled it is. In addition, the USFRA, along with the other sanctioning bodies, cooperate in a "gentleman agreement" not to reschedule and risk inteferring with each others events. I'm finding it's much cheaper for us to fly into Salt Lake, get the car and drive to Denver..... I tried calling you are home. Where are you? Court |

Roc: Berthoud, CO is plum chuck FULL of hotels and there will be daily events and rides leaving from Aaron's for points throughout the Rockies. I'm trying to keep Aaron from becoming the tour director/travel agent but I have spoken to him and ALL are welcome. Court |

Things sound pretty definite to me, Blake. Wish it didn't, though... MAJOR bummer for everyone; especially the guys that've been prepping the bikes, taken off time from work, looking forward for it and such. Still, let's turn this into a good thing. We, the five foreign guys, with help from all of You, are trying to put together a couple of bikes to hoon around on, up the rockies. It'd be great to be able to see some of the sights and landscape, and perhaps share the experience with some of the friends made!? We'll try and display some of the mythical European/Australian flexibility all right... So all of You guys not having a ball at the moment; GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE AND LET'S TURN THIS THING AROUND!!! Colo-Ganza 2002, Jilles. |
