I also have a non-smoking bed available. If anybody needs it, ping me or I may cancel it and see if I can double up with Josh! r-t |

Road Thing, hold onto that room right up until the last moment if you double up with Josh..you can cancel...what 24 hours ahead. We always did this & it seems to help as the reservations do get skewed...at least someone may not be without a room if you hang onto it. Dale A. |

S2 racers - I'm installing an ignition kill switch on my S2. Do any of you know if I need to splice it into the white wire, from the regular kill switch, on the right handlebar. This looks correct but I would like to know. Thank you |

Do 130 club bikes need a special kill switch? Oops! Wrong section, sorry. Anyway, y/n? Sparky |

No, at least they didn't last year. They just needed the normal one on the bars. PPiA |

No. The one on your controls is all you need and the throttle must be self closing. I've asked them about things like safety wire as well. Nope again. Race what u brung, but the tech inspector has final say so. Just make sure all is in tip top shape like you were going for a state inspection sticker. 150 club has a few extra reqs. |

The S2 is togeather and seems to be running very well! I installed an A/F ratio guage and it even looks like my jetting is good. With the Euro gearing and the 6 speed the thing is geared to the moon. Very odd to ride. Almost like effortless, no high RPM and very little sound, speed. I still need to fit a smaller gas tank for the A classes, safety wire my axles, and fit my number plates. Paul - I can not use the gas tank you sent me. Fortunately I found a tank from a Honda generator that will work. Would you like me to mail it back or just bring it with me to Bonneville? Aerostich is sponsoring me with a pair of their combat touring boots. My old boots did not meet the safety requirements so I contacted Aerostich, their boots seemed to be the pair I would most like to have. A big thank you to Andy Goldfine and Aerostich for the excellent boots. Peter - One day, maybe, Aerocharger will call me back with an answer for you. I'll pester them some more tomorrow. |

>>>>A big thank you to Andy Goldfine and Aerostich for the excellent boots. Andy has also been most helpful with regards toward efforts to pin down a GPS that would work at Bonneville. I'd suggest that anyone who has a moment drop Andy Goldfine (one of motorcycles legends) a note at agoldfine@aerostich.com and thank him on behalf of the Team Elves effort. Court |

Roc, I wouldn't worry too much about it. The bike is together now and I'm running it in. Are you using a CV or a Mikuni on yours? If you have a CV, what jetting, needle etc do you have? PPiA |

Peter - with the stock S2 heads it seemed about perfect with the Basic settings Aerocharger specifies: 240 main, stock needle - no shims, #48 slow jet, mixture screw 2.5 turns from bottom, float height 0.550". Now I am running a 220 main and a needle from Aerocharger. I don't remember what it was, but it didn't quite seem as tapered as the N65C. Aerocharger sent it with a plactic donut that snapped into place in the white plastic cage, just above the needle. The needle is clipped in the 3rd position from the top. |

Thanks Roc. I started with a 250 and an N65C, but it looked a little rich, so I swapped it for a 240. Too lean on the needle then, so I shimmed it up. It ran well, although rich, until I tried getting out on the highway and running a steady 3500rpm. It would slowly fall to lean and then splutter. I'm getting frustrated because I'm still running it in and can't take it over 3500 yet to set the main correctly. I'll try the 250 again this morning. I've got some Thunderstorm heads with porting work though, so I imagine my settings will be different. That plastic donut sounds like they are trying to increase spring tension? Do you remember how thick it was? |

X1- In the words of Dice Clay, "I'm over here now" hehe I've got my office torn apart to bare walls at home, so no computer access at the house, can only check badweb at work. Work has been busy, hence no missives from the City of Brotherly love recently. I'll still be on the Salt, and plan on bringing a cheesteak from each of the "Best of Philly" winners. Should be an interesting Xray on the luggage. David |

Great, the armed guards will interrogate you because a cheesesteak could be used as a bludgeon on the pilots and crew to gain control of the plane! |

Here's the deal.....in the scheme of things, ordered by relative danger/threat to human safety, a Philly Cheesesteak is going to pale compared to some of the stuff I see cooking. Is anyone other than me worried about that counter on the TEAM ELVES site? I guess, I am just showing my age..... Court |

Bob: At 33 you are a mere child. Look I've spent time with the USMC and the USSS and neither scared me. I am getting into parts of conversations occuring between Vick's upstairs office, a group she dubs "The half-crazed" Aussies" and a party planner in the hamlet of Wendover, who's mantra has become "I could loose my job over this". Yeah, that's right. I never get scared, but I am now REMINDER: If you have ORDERED Team Elves fine textiles, yet NOT PAID.....get off your ass so I can use my dining room table again! |

Peter - The shim was maybe 0.10". I was running the bike pretty hard last night and some odd things happened. The reading on the A/F guage seems to give a variable reading under almost identical conditions. Without making any changes it would go from slightly rich in one little freeway burst to slightly lean. The guage has been recalibrated to make it more sensative along the richer range so that may be why. Do you know what your fuel pressure is? When I had a fuel pressure guage installed this would seem to change a bit, I have no idea why, between rides. A few pounds of pressure variance will make my bike either: die from lack of fuel with a quick run of high boost, or flood. This is much easier to adjust than the jetting so you may want to look at this. When I got home my rear wheel/tire/brake/etc. were covered in oil. Maybe I need a new gasket for my S2's drain plug? |

Roc, That's the sort of reaction I've been getting on my A/F gauge too, and it isn't a sensitive version. I'm starting to think that the variations between when the turbo is spinning up, or spinning down, and the throttle changes at that moment, are going to make jetting a real PITA with a CV. I'm seriously considering swapping to a Mikuni so that I can get a constant slide position to work with. I'll see what happens when it's run in and I can open it up. |

Roc,doubt it is gasket --check your tranny breather hose for splooge.Thats usually the culprit.Did you fill trans lately ,hope it was less than the specified amount, cuz if not out it comes when hot.Catch can time? What sort of A/F sensors are you guys using?I was lecture by a very knowledgable man the other day about A/F sensors and EGT sensors(he formerly slod dat aquisition stuff to race teams for many moons)He told me unless you're putting out some big bucks for a truly wide range sensor most of the ones seen in automotive type instruments are only good for a narrow range from stoichemetric(sp).Kinda like the ones on a dyno--expensive part to replace. |

FMJ, I am only using the automotive type. If I get it into the stoichometric range though, then go up a size, I'm where I want to be. Court, I remember getting an email to that effect now. Thanks. PPiA |
