Whoopass indeed mate Yeah I'm all of those things you said, and more. I've pulled my head out of my arse now and I'm so so looking forward to that Team Elves bonding and that great American hospitality, not to mention the taste of real Saspirrella. Nope I can't wait , but what about the threat of American Airlines going to the wall ? I'm not that good a swimmer ! As for the 150 Club, which Buell is that then and does my $350 get me in ? Me in a pink tutu does not come cheap Rocket |

Henrik nice pics you put up on Team elves, thanks, and no I haven't done your CD .......yet but when I do (if) be prepared. Right now I'm listening to Wycleffe Jean's latest CD, then there's Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Miss Dynamite and oh the list goes on. My Discman will be coming to Bonneville this year, that's for sure Rocket |

I see today's runs are posted ... Buell Bros is still stuck at 147. Nobody seems to be able to challenge Crim's records. Things seem to be winding down, bikes have apparently fallen out and the guys who are still plugging away aren't finding more speed. Dad Land has definitely had a good event, though. |

Interesting bike ... I can't seem to find any results on him. Maybe he just rolled in. |

Just downloaded the dyno run video. Okay, it's official. I'm freakin' psyched! Just have to check which airline I'm flying to see if they're still in biz. |

Glad y'all like the video. My wife Susan shot that with our little Fuji digital camera (has a movie mode), made a 10MB AVI that I snail-mailed to Henrik, who did some magic and turned it into an Mpeg. |

Aaron: why are you running the engine through the dryer hoses and not the pipes you will actually be running? I'm sure there will be a difference in the way it performs. |

I heard a rumor that Team Elves is paying entry fees for "off brand" bikes running for the 130 and 150 clubs, is this the case? |

Roc, You should have your small tank tomorrow. Let me know if it doesn't get there and I'll start the search for it from this end. Paul |

Far as I know, the team isn't covering any 130 or 150 club activity at all, regardless of brand. We've said from the beginning that the team is paying for record clsses only. |

Roc, rest assured I'll pay no fees for anything but a Buell running for land speed records. What we are providing to 130 and 150 club runners is a camp with a strong team environment from which they can make their attempts. We, yourself included, have experience in the club runs now and can help new people get their machines prepared and help them through the process. They are all responsible for their own entry fees and membership dues. JB2 |

I thought it odd when I heard that, but I like the guy I heard it from and did not want to argue. I made some good progress on the S2 today. Thank you Paul. Tomorrow should be a good day. I expect a rear break rotor, a right front fork, a gas tank to run altered, and a pair of boots. |

Anyone recognize this old coot? Chris "Dad" Land, I presume. Ran over 150 with his old 'arnhead on nitrous. Great job! |

Aaron, Did you find any info on this bike that you were asking about? Looks like he has his fuel needs figured out to the ounce. Also looks to be a Kansas lisc. plate on the truck. Hmmm, who's from Kansas with a Buell interest? The "old coot" looks very familiar somehow. I like how his airfilter is backwards. That bike is probably somewhat street legal too, if I'm guessing right. |

Yes ... he's listed in the results from yesterday ... he only made one pass, ran a 145 1/4 speed but only 114 for the mile, must've had a problem Another interesting result from yesterday, it looks like a Team Elves record has probably fallen. "Full House Mouse 2" ran 163 in APS-PF against our 158 record, I assume they backed that up this morning. The "A" classes were never a priority with us, we just took'em because they were there, never even ran the nitrous in that class. The bike was truly an "M" class bike so that's where I chose to concentrate our efforts. So that's cool, I congratulate them. Long as it ain't no stinkn' Guzzi! One of Crim's challengers managed to get a 161 1/4 speed in 1650cc A-PG, against a 167 record, but he didn't get there. Dad Land made several more passes but couldn't improve on what he'd already done. A 500cc MPS-PBF (boosted fuel) bike ran pretty good at 127.8. |

Yeah, I seen that pic of Dad on Landracing.com this AM Aaron. His old Ironhead is called "Lucille" We race with Dad at Maxton every month & he's been upping the speeds on this old Iron every month since the begining of the season. He started dabbling with the nitrous, this year. Dad was the gentleman who did the work on Our Sportster List XR-1000 the very first year we were attempting to get that Guzzi 1000 cc P/PP record when it was at 134 & some change. He is an "Indy" out of Conyers, Ga. & owns the shop Lone Eagle Motor Company. Dad visited Bonneville last year as the first year with this bike & had a few problems. Looks like it all came together finally! Congrats to him & a cyber HUGG! Dad had a very interesting story in just making it out to the salt flats this year. His tow vehicle had bad wheel bearings, broke the starter mount bolts, then something about major transmission problems in New Mexico. A couple grand lighter on the wallet & he still made it to Bonneville. He's persistent, thats for sure! Dale A. Rattler |

I’ve got a couple of practical-type questions that some of y’all who have salt flats experience might be able to answer. 1. How’s the security on site? In other words, do you have to break down awnings, ground tarps, chairs, tables, etc., at the end of each day and pack it all out? 2. What’s the most practical type of tent pin for the salt? Will 20d nails work? I assume it’s too hard for bigger stuff? Do you have to drill a hole first? Lag bolts? 3. Is there any over-nighting permitted on site? 4. What’s the temperature range one should be prepared for? 5. Where’s the nearest trout stream? (Are gill-nets permitted? A trammel-net, maybe?) Thanx, Capt. Pete |

Paul, records set during this morning's round of backup runs are apparently listed here ... but for some reason they listed all the records set as long course records (?), with no mention of those guys. That's strange, I dunno. Maybe they packed up and went home, maybe they broke on their backup attempt, they might've even allowed some qualifying with final backup runs this afternoon, whatever. If that record was important to us, we would've used the bottle. I was uncomfortable with that whole "A" configuration, though, with Richard's feet way back like that. I ain't even messing with "A" classes on the new bike. CaptPete: 1) They flush everyone out of the paddock at night, so it's essentially perimeter security. Lots of folks leave things out without issues. 2) I dunno how big a 20D nail is, but tent stakes about 3/8" to 1/2" seem to work. It's hard to drive them in. Smaller might bend. 8-10" long is good. 3) No, although people camp along the access road. There's also a KOA in town. But man, the rooms are very reasonably priced. 4) Very cold to very hot, and all points in between. '00, it was chilly, especially in the mornings. Sweatshirt/light jacket chilly. Last year, toasty warm, although mornings were cool. Sunblock is important. Put it in places you normally wouldn't ... underside of arms, under nose, etc. The salt reflects. 5) No idea. |

Capt Petey...just imagine you have landed on the moon(that's what it is like)...do you think there would be any trout? Sunblock, Sunglasses, BIG hat, umbrella...the bare necessities. It was pretty warm last year.(and salty...really,really salty...) Won't be seeing you this weekend Pete...I'll holler when I'm ready. |

Paul - I recieved the Yamaha tank, thank you very much. But it brigns up a quesiton. Tech question needing opinions. The Yamaha tank's petcock has a 1/4" fitting. My S2 currently uses the stock petcock with no fuel problems. After the petcock is a fuel pump that puts out 70 PSI, and then a regulator that drops the pressure from 2-18 PSI. Will the pump and regulator allow me to run the 1/4" fitting and get enough fuel? Any other ideas about rigging fuel fittings to a plastic tank? I think I may use a drilled out metal valve stem, for a car tire, for a return line. |

My first impression of the Salt flats when I first stepped on it in 1999 was "Ice Fishing". I could almost imagine seeing a few ice fishing shanties sitting out their. The heat dis-spelled that notion real quick. The wind comes up at night out on the salt almost without fail. You just have to prep your pit area before you leave. Lower canopies, tie weights to them, etc, leave nothing lying around loose...it'll be in someone else's pit the next day or over across I-80! Dale A. |

Tent/tarp stakes: Big nails work well; bring some big washers to put on the nails to keep the ground tarps from slipping over the top ... oh, and a big, whopping hammer to pound them in. Henrik P.S. I'm cooking up some pretty cool Bonneville video clips to get you all excited . Will try to get them up on the site this weekend. |
