OK, guys lets start speaking up.Who is going to be at Bonneville in 2002.I will be there to partake of all the fun and antics again. The S-2 is almost a bike again.Spent another 4 hrs on it yesterday and it is now on 2 wheels again with all systems bolted back on.(Funny it only took me 1 day to take apart, but I have put in about 4 days getting it back together, and I am still not done.Must be all those "BOLT-ON PARTS" I have to keep massaging)Waiting for a couple of new throttle cables for Mikuni, then we'll fire it up and head for dyno.Body work is at paint shop, should be done soon.I can't wait!!! |

Whoa kids.....before we start blasting info into the Cosmos, let's see who wants to volunteer to be the "point person" for gathering and organizing info. SomeONE needs to be the custodian of the .xls spreadsheet with ALL info (name, arrival date/time/mode, lodging, when arriving, when leaveing, need transport, emergency contact, riding 130, need bike, have bike, riding a class, needs, etc.) It ALL needs to be in ONE safe place for Mr. Rex Chaney The Elf Logistics Coordinator. In addition, the folks doing the catering need to start getting numbers. Do I see a hand waving back there in the back of the room. It'll take some time and needs to be done carefully. Court |

say Court: well sir, it seems i performed my duties re: the BRAG CA Tour in an exemplary fashion (even got a nice "Thank You" letter from Leslie on Friday :-), so, seeings as this constitutes a positive and welcome trend concerning the untertaking of Buell-related commitments and obligations on my part... ...i'm volunteering to be "point man". i WOULD insist, however, on some sort of snazzy title, something, perhaps, like "Senior Official Bonneville Administrative Datastician" (um, SOBAD ). i'm game if'n you are, and if'n you are, let me know how to begin. ride to lean, FB PACBOG@aol.com |

TEAM ELVES Ferris: By the power vested in me as Manager of the World Land Speed Record holding (and not by wimpy liitle thousandths of a MPH, either) I hereby appiont you serve as the Chief Elf for Collection of Data - Placing In Electronically Compiled Edition and henceforth thou shalt, near and farr, in this land and others be knownst as the TEAM ELVES C.O.D. P.I.E.C.E I shall contact you shortly with a detailed description of your duties and responsibilities. Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.....RD350.....don't go out that door, for thou too shalt be annointed and sucked into the ligistical side of this years efforts. I have been seeking a sucker.....er, VOLUNTEER....in the SLC area to receive, marshall and transfer shipped gear to the ELF-QUARTERS at the appropriate time. Do you have a place you can store some freight containers of CRAPOLA and make arrangements to have it sitting in a pickem up truck at a prescribed time and place? IF so...sya "I DO" and thou shalt henceforth be know as the Place In My Pickup - ELF and as the duly annointed P.I.M.P. thou shalt responsible for the duties required to assist the Team's behind the scenes efforts. There...that takes care of two valuable tasks! Court |

with all due respect Mgr. Canfield -- cod --noun: 2) the scrotum. cod piece --noun: a baglike flap at the front of tight-fitting hose or breeches worn by men in the 1400's and 1500's. snazzy --adjective: fancy, flashy, elegant. hmmmmmmmmmmm.......................... pretty sure you're not looking for a "yes man" here, and -- again, with all due respect -- i can't in good conscience say yes to "cod piece". i offer up, however, for your inspection: codger, noun, an odd or peculiar person. as in Collection of Data Getting Elves Ready. fair enough? ah, my old friend FMJ (and i DO mean old!) (altho probably not as old as Dino) well, lessee, the Viffster is good for an even 150 (indicated) on pavement, whatcha think that translates to on the salt? think 140 is in reach? << Ahhhh.....how I recall the halcyon days when I, too, had not met Ferris Bueller >> ouch, that hurts! (perversely, in a GOOD sorta way) btw Court, WHAT is it exactly you want me to tell you??? (not to worry, mate, i WILL be in no time...) ride to lean, FB |

Probably not as easy as you think Ferris, as it is at 4400' in elevation and they estimate you lose 7-10%HP to the salt surface traction. And we all know what "indicated" means. You would be suprised at the hopped up cars that did NOT make the 130mph Club.I believe there were more than 70 entrants with only 18 being successful in the 4 days we were there--and 9 of those were US!!But trying was 1/2 the fun.And if your smart(we weren't) you will take more than 2 tries to get in.(you get 5 runs.) |

cuzzin's Bob and Deb are coming? well hot dawg, this thing is now GUARANDAMNTEED to be a hoot!!! (beware, fellow Elvesters, when Bob and i get to drinkin' and drawlin', it ain't pretty) FMJ, i have proven repeatedly that when it comes to matters mental, i graph out significantly below the curve. thus, i pose a couple of questions to the readers of this salty thread (Aaron, feel free to chime in): as i recall from various mag reports, verified top speed on '98-'01 VFR's is about 145. if so, how much of that would you lose, give or take, on the salt because of traction loss? also, since my Interceptor is fuel-injected (with each of the four cylinders getting the benefits of it's own, separate fuel and ignition processing), would THIS compensate for the altitude at Bonneville enough to negate the effects of said altitude? finally (and laugh if you will), i have laid bare MUCH of the aluminum (frame, forks, swingarm, etc.) on my scooter, making it all pretty and shiny. should i worry about the effects of the salt on these exposed surfaces? finally, part 2: JB2, you out there bud? ride to lean, Ferris the Codger |

And.....Aaron is going to very, very busy in these final 90 days. Give him LOTS of space. This is going to be to cool! |
