I have an ‘06 Ulysses. It has a Buell performance muffler, remapped (stock) ECM and high flow air cleaner. The exhaust valve actuator cable is disconnected. I’m the third owner. I don’t know how the original owner programmed the ECM. The bike runs great. It only has an occasional miss until it warms up. I want to install a stock muffler to quiet things down. If I installed a stock muffler and reconnected the exhaust valve actuator cable, would the ECM need a re-map? |

Probably yes. Does the active exhaust servo operate, although disconnected? If not, that needs to be turned back on via the ECU. There were probably also some changes made to accommodate the muffler. The stock map will probably need to be re-installed. |

Not sure if the active exhaust servo operates. The wiring connector is plugged in, but the cable was removed. I agree that the stock map will need to be reinstalled. (Message edited by Geoff on October 26, 2020) |

The ECM won't need a re-map as the Interactive Exhaust Valve (IEV) is controlled separately in the ECM Parameters and not part of the fueling map. You can even turn it on now. Its function and adjustment need to be checked first. Buellmods.com If you replace the Buell Race muffler with the stock can, your bike will probably LOVE the change and run pretty well. Its going the other way that leans them out and causes issues. Your ECM should have plenty of adjustment to accommodate the change but if you're still worried about it, there is a a Buell performance map meant for stock mufflers available as well that is MUCH better than a stock EPA program. Well, I posted yesterday and the post vanished... Short repeat - I did the same thing - return the bike to 'stock'. I used the ECMDroid "Race / Stock pipe" tune. |

Thanks for the comments. Once I reinstall the stock muffler and exhaust valve cable, I'll need to find an indie or H-D dealer to load the stock ECM map. I don't have the knowledge or resources to do it myself. |
