Hi All, I had my bike in the shop for some work, it sat too long and the gas and plugs were bad. After changing the gas and plugs and doing the yearly PM my mechanic is reporting the bike runs rough and almost wants to die if it is at 2000-2200 rmp, he said he as checked all the easy stuff and is thinking it might he the injectors but he is not sure, he as at the point where we are really just swapping parts to see what fixes it which would cost, any inputs on what it could be or what should be checked??? He said this is not the usual Buell not liking to be at ~2800rmp issue. I don't want to spend a lot money an a 12 year old bike where finding parts and a mechanic who works on Buells is becoming problematic. I plan to try to get to his shop in a couple of days to ride it my self to compare to how it use to run. Thanks for any inputs. |

Since it sat for a while I would wonder about the injectors. Maybe run some injector cleaner in the fuel and see if it clears up. Pour a little Seafoam in there and see what happens. |

But it works fine at 1200-2000 and at 2200-6000 rpm? If it would be fuel delivery issue it would not be so specific for RPM. (Message edited by TPEHAK on February 10, 2020) |

I wonder if the mechanic corrupted the fuel map? |

Another possible issue is the Throttle Position Sensor potentiometer strips are worned out at the angle matching 2000-2200 RPM. If you have Bluetooth dongle and ECM Droid on your phone you can check if the Throttle Position Sensor shows angle correctly withing the range of motion. I'm not sure what easy stuff your mechanic checked, but it would be helpful if he will say you exactly what and how he checked. (Message edited by TPEHAK on February 10, 2020) |

Update: So the TPS update from the computer was not working but the manual reset appeared to help regarding the original issue of the motor running rough between 2k-2.5k. BUT, now I have a new issue, the bike runs fine after TPS reset for about 5min then if wants to stall when it is rev'ing down and you give it gas to go. It seems like it is not getting enough air, if I throttle up slow the bike is OK, but if I throttle up like normal it wants to stall. I have redone the TPS a few time and each time it helped for the first 5min. Thoughts? |

A few minutes work so pull the air box and make sure that the rubber velocity stack is seated correctly. If it's not it'll croak when you nail the throttle. How do I know this one, you might ask... |

I did the same thing too. Looked okay but sure didn’t run okay. Made sure to fully seat the air horn and also positioned the spring clip so that it was the furthest away from any moving parts or electrical wiring. Was fine after that. |
