A friend's 09 XB12X needs a set of tires, heavy rider, they need to be good in west coast rain conditions and long wearing with on road use primarily. For pure road tires, exceptional in rain and long wearing, what about Michelin P5GT's as well ? 996DL |

I'm a big fan of Shinko 009 Raven (rear) tires. I had great service from them on my Sprint ST, and hope to see the same on the Uly. Did not have as good an experience with the front - maybe it was the particular tire, but it developed a weird wear pattern. I called it 'Klingon Forehead'. I like the Michelin PR series for the front. |

I have no experience with Michelins. Crempel suggested I try Avon 3D-XM. He said they could possibly get me 15,000 miles. I haven't tried them yet. I stick with Pirelli most of the time. I got 10,000 miles out of a pair of Angels one time. I only get 2,000 to 3,000 miles out of Rosso IIs. I prefer the feel of the tire to it's mileage. If I could, I'd mount new rubber every month. |

Michelin Pilot Road 5's. I've had the 2's and 4's and loved them. My brother has the 5's now and they look great. More mileage and great in the rain and dry. Dual compound works great! |

I've been impressed with the cost/mileage of the shinko 009. ive got one ready to spoon on for this summer. handling isn't as light as with other tires but I think it really depends on wether you have conventional or synthetic fluids …. |

I have trailriders on my Uly and love them. Not a ton of miles yet, but pavement manners are excellent, as is loose-stuff traction. Great successor to the D616. Nice thick carcass, smooth running, no noise, handle as well as the PR3s I took off. Good transitions, shoulder to shoulder. |

Hmm, that sounds interesting. I've been running take-offs from my R6 trackday bike for the past few years and do miss having loose surface rideability. I'd been considering Bridgestone Battlax Adventure and Metzler Karoo. |

I've had the Avon Trailrider on the back for 2 years now and love it. I need to replace the D616 up front and am seriously considering the Trailrider. Any suggestions for the front? I ride spirited on the asphalt and will ride 10-50 miles stretches of dirt. Ride mostly with KTM 950/990s |

I put trailriders on my 06 uly when I bought it. I really liked them for my mostly road rides and some dirt. Mileage seems to be fine. My 09 had some michelin road tires on it. I HATE those things, they catch every groove in the road and it sure likes to shake its ass on grooved pavement on the interstate. Ill be putting Avons on it soon |
