Now that the front wheel is off I realize I need new wheel bearings, what's the best source? Also, The book lists a special tool for removal, is this available? | ||

The brass drift works well with a sharp tip, but sometimes its really hard to get in that groove just right. I have a huge toolbox full of Snap-on tools, and that exact blind bearing puller from Harbor freight. It works well, and I don't can who makes it, its one of those tools thats simple as a hammer  | ||

You don't need to get "Wheel bearings for a Buell". The bearing part number (i.e. 6005-RS) is the dimensions and seal requirements. So the number is universal to bearing suppliers. Pick the brand you like and order that number from any source.  | ||

The correct tool for removing Buell XB front wheel bearings is a 25 mm collet https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003CMY8B0/ref=p px_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 And a slide hammer https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004FGWHZQ/ref=p px_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 To install bearings you need nut socket (I do not remember the size but the outside diameter of the socket should be just barely smaller than the outside diameter of the front wheel bearing. So measure outside diameter of the bearing and buy necessary socket in your local auto store) and hammer. Wrong bearings orientation, wrong bearings installation sequence or inappropriate bearings installation will cause wrong front brake rotor alignment and as result front brake dragging, front brake overheating, front brake locking, front brake excessive wear, loosing front brake stopping power or excessive front wheel bearings wear which may cause dead or serious injuries.
