Just thought I'd pop in and say that the bike is still running good! ...and I'm enjoying our slight cool down around here in Central Florida. I'll prolly make a run up to Willy's Tropical Tattoo Chopper show next Thursday then I'll be up at Juniper Springs camping and doing a little riding around Ocala National Forest. Just wanted to throw it out there that I don't show up here just when something is going sideways! Haha. Love these bikes! Cheers, Claude

Yes. We need more of these threads. My contribution: I turned the key to "ON" and started the engine. Drove it to work. Was cold; turned on grips. Both worked. No errors to report. |

looks like one dean adams made, which was a knockoff of tourtech. I ran out of gas on my uly yesterday. It was a nice day above 60 and my day off this week. Its been a couple weeks since these stars have aligned; i've been working 6-13s a week for the last month, with another month to go. I carry 1.5 gallons of extra fuel on my uly and, of course, I poured this excess into the tank before leaving the house, since I figured it might be awhile be I rode again and i didnt want it to go bad (goofy ass fall kansas weather). So, I decide to run up to this coffee shop in downtown kc that is having a "end of the season" bike get together type thing; about 50 miles from the house. My low fuel light comes own just a few blocks away, no problem, i'll fill up when I leave. Get there, have a smoke and eye the bikes, even saw a uly. Go to buy a cup of coffee and guess what, I left my wallet on the counter at home. Damn. Well, I definitely can't make it 50 miles on "reserve", but I figure I will try to get as far as I can. I take a more populated/less scenic route this time to lessen the chance of being stranded somewhere no one will find me. I actually made it the farthest I ever have on "reserve", about 37 miles (the couple other times i've ran out of gas it happened at around 27). Still about 12 miles from the house though I walked the bike about a mile to the next exit (and gas station). About 500ft away a nice fella stopped and offered to take my 1 gal rotopax to the station and fill it for me. Hell of a nice guy. Emptied the can into the tank and was on my way, made it home safe and sound to be laughed at by wife. Great day! |

Good morning, Shoggin, that is a Touretech skid plate. Mike, I love that story, I have the same philosophy when it comes to motorcycle trips or any kind of adventure traveling for that matter. Plan and prepare but adapt as you go... I rarely have much structure in my schedule. I'm very lucky that my wife is the same way. Sometimes the best adventures are the ones that go sideways. Cheers, Claude |
