I put Uly pegs on my CR for the 1" drop, because XB pegs don't fit - I want to say the XB peg itself is too wide to fit between the tabs on the Ulysses frame. If you want Firebolt pegs, you appear to want to get rid of the 1" drop. I ordered a set of aftermarket ones off ebay but the pin size was wrong. I've had Uly pegs on my CR for years and they went right on, no gaps, no filing. Do you have the spacers in the right locations? Washers? I can't imagine why they'll fit one way (Uly to CR) but not the other way (CR to Uly). I don't own any other XBs, so I can't compare...sorry. I just remembered putting the Uly pegs on my CR the day I took it home in '09 (and at my age, I'm lucky I remember THAT much!)...and riding it happily for the last decade.
