I am curious if anyone has stumbled into a suitable LED headlight (not just bulb) replacement for the Uly's stock units. Many have replaced bulbs with eight HID or LED units - me being one - but we all know how poorly the stock reflectors diffuse the light of these "upgrades". Has anyone found a decent LED unit that can be retrofitted into the space the stock headlight unit occupies? I remember back in the early days of the Uly, someone in this forum did a beautiful job of replacing the stock headlight unit with two super bright HID (I think) sealed beam lights. They may have been halogen, but in any case, they were super bright, and since they were complete unites, the light was diffused appropriately on the road. Has anyone seen any LED units that, with a little creative fab work, might be good replacements for the ULY's stock lights? |

I believe you're talking about Treadmark's bike. I did a search and found he used these: https://www.rpgoffroad.com/product/fuego-4-hid-lig hts/ And are referenced here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/546384.html?1273500370 and here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/257385.html and a picture of them here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/662136.html?1324754894#POST2159955 Is that what you were looking for? |

I just went onto Baja Designs website and they have several LED options that look interesting that won't tax the charging system. I just sent them an email asking for a recommendation for our bikes. |

Yep. That's what I was referring to, but I'd like to find an LED version of that. |

I doubt you'll get anything committal from them since the lights are all labeled "For offroad use only". Also, the market for XB12X parts is shall we say slightly smaller than that of F-150 trucks. However, it hurts NOTHING to ask and it's the only real way of learning a new thing without trial and error. |

I'm not expecting Baja Designs - or anyone else for that matter - to offer a DOT approved LED replacement headlight for a Buell Ulysses. I am looking to achieve what Skinstains did with his HID "Death Ray" setup - or whatever he called it (also not DOT compliant) - but with a pair of sweet LED units. I'm not worried about DOT compliance, as long as what I install, if aimed correctly, will be significantly brighter and spread light more effectively that stock or simply a bulb upgrade, but still not blind oncoming traffic. |

Correction - "Treadmark" not Skinstains. |
