I recently picked up a set of used Hepco Becker bags and hardware for my 2007 XB12X. The mounting holes under the seat don’t line up. Are there different brackets for the X and XT? Or can you not put bags on the X model? Anyone else have experience with this dilemma? Any advice would be appreciated Joe |

Are they a long way off, or just a bit? The mounts on my X required a bit of adjustment to fit. |

I am pretty sure the brackets are different for the X vs XT. You can definitely put bags on the X. The X bags were different than the XT bags. The top case was different as well. I'm betting Foggy can tell you the exact difference and get you the correct part numbers. |

The bags I know are interchangeable. You have to turn them around as the locking bracket is to the rear of the mounts on the X, and to the front on the XT.} (Message edited by whisperstealth on November 25, 2018) |

Mark, The rear mounting holes are a good 1" too far back. Whisperstealth, Thanks for the input. Maybe Froggy will chime in. |

Whisperstealth- I think you're mixing up the XP and the XT. The XP police bike version had different bags. AFAIK, the X and the XT had identical bags and brackets. Jhelm- Have you got a copy of the original installation instructions so you can be sure you're installing them correctly? Here's a link to them in case you don't: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1713/7809/files/ J03578_en_US.blaiseULYSSES__TOP_CASE_AND_SIDE_CASE _KIT.pdf?3882394188370642893 If they're really 1" off they must be for a completely different bike. |

Hughlysses, Thanks for the input. I do have the instruction sheet downloaded from St Paul HD site. Nothing I find online refers to different brackets for the X vs XT. Joe |

I have an '06 X that I fitted with the factory supplied HB bags, Top box & racks way back when. I bought an '09 XT when HD pulled the pin and have transferred the racks from X to XT with no major fitment issues. From memory the R/H footrest mount is jiggly to fit but not impossible. |

Time for Foggy Facts. X and XT use the same racks. What may be the issue is that the tail section can settle, causing it to no longer line up. In that case, loosen the 4 bolts that connect the subframe to the frame, then try installing the brackets. You should then be able to lift the tail and line it all up. |

I have owned 3 Ulys, and they all needed a bit of loosening and jiggling to line up. I usually have to loosen both passenger footpeg brackets and lightly seat every bolt before I start tightening it all down in sequence. |

Get the big hammer. The racks are the same - as noted above - for X and XT. Those are the "junior" bags - the rounded ones with the silver panels. The "outdoorsman" bags - squared off, all-black, textured finish - are the ones that have a different rack system with rear-facing latches. But. ALL Ulysses tail sections are identical. ALL mounting points are identical. ALL passenger peg brackets are identical. If if says "Ulysses" - regardless of X, XT, or XP - the brackets will fit the bike. But they're relatively small-gauge metal tubing, bolting to what is effectively a large aluminum diving board - some finesse and patience will be required. Don't tighten ANY bolts, until you have got ALL the bolts through their holes and gotten their nuts started. |

I had to loosen a few things to get holes to line up also. |

In 42,000 miles I never removed the racks on the XT for a reason. The racks on Lil Red were made specifically for Lil Red. Every time they are removed and put back on they have to be coaxed just a little. Those XBs breath and flex. They are alive. And don't get me started on temperature changes. You would think they were titanium and making passes at mach 3.5 . |

...and people wonder why they say not to run a topcase without the side racks in place.... |

"bolting to what is effectively a large aluminum diving board" "I had to loosen a few things to get holes to line up also." Two best comments I have seen on BadWeb in a while but for different reasons. |

You guys do not lie. Loosened up the subframe and footpeg mount and all the holes aligned. Did not need the big hammer. Thanks for the advise. |
