Question for the more electrically experienced here; I've lost power to both flyscreen and underseat accessory plugs. The fuses and relays check out fine, as I switched several around and nothing changed. Had the bike out for 100+ miles today and several hours, and except for no power to my GPS, all was well. Before I go tearing into the headstock grounds, anyone have some brilliant insight? FWIW, it's an 08 with about 35k, and runs fantastic otherwise. |

Well, on 08 and later, power to the accessory circuts is switched by the ECU. If battery voltage is low, the ECU will switch those circuits off. (Message edited by Mark_weiss on September 16, 2018) |

Yep, low power cuts off the accessory outlet. Got a voltmeter on the bike? Time for a battery and/or stator test... |

So....who's got two thumbs and is a total Dew Moss? This guy. Carry on.... A closer inspection of the fuse showed a break that my initial glance missed. Duh. Next question; What might cause that fuse to blow? |

Glad you've found it. I've started testing fuses with a meter to verify as I've had more than a few that were not obviously blown on first glance. As for what caused it? I'd just put a new fuse in and see if blows again, if it doesn't I wouldn't worry about it, something could have been overdrawing, or got wet, etc. If it keeps blowing, I'd disconnect everything related, and inspect all wires. Re-attach one by one and see if it blows again. |

Do you have heated grips? The factory tapped that power outlet for the grip power, and the wiring incuded a Y-splitter so there's still an outlet behind the flyscreen for the GPS. So, possible plug-and-play connections to that circuit could be: 1. flyscreen cigar lighter outlet 2. underseat cigar lighter outlet 3. Heated grips 4. Buell P&A GPS mount ...and that's without cutting or splicing anything... |

Rat- You're a genius. I was gonna run power direct from the batter, but I'll poke around in there and see what I can do to avoid running more wire from back to front. Thx, brah! |

If the failure looks like a hair line crack; it could be from vibration, poor quality fuse, or heat cycle stress. Make sure the fuse box terminals are clean and tightly grasp the spades of the fuse. |
