I have an '08, so no mechanical idle speed adjusting mechanism. I would like to lower the idle speed a bit but cannot figure out which thing to change to get that to happen.

I have made a few attempts with no luck. Under 'Tables", the 'Idle air control setpoint map" seemed the most likely but did not produce a change.

Edit: Naturally, just after posting the above query, I figured out what to do. It was the XY Table for "Idle Air Control Setpoint" that was the controlling data.

A lot of people used to set the idle lower on their pre-08 XB's, but most eventually figured out there's a reason it's faster than a typical HD engine.

I'd leave it alone; they run better with the idle at the stock setting.

And they have better oil pressure.

After I finally had my ECU updated a few months ago, the 'cold' idle speed was increased from about 1500 to about 1800. 1800 was high enough that the bike would not sit (reasonably) still if unattended for a moment and the shaking finally cracked my ZG windshield. The startup idle is now down to 1600 and startup is better.

I did not change the hot idle setting at all.

2008 and up bikes need more pressure for the plain bearings in the cams, right?

My old X1 has had the idle set for 950RPM for about 80,000 miles without complaint.

The original table went: 1800, 1200, 1200, 1150, 1120, 1120, in steps as temperature increased. The updated, really shaky table went: 1750, 1700, 1600, 1150, 1120, 1120. I went for a compromise at: 1700, 1400, 1200, 1150, 1150, 1120.

In another matter, I found a table for vehicle speed correction. It gradually adds percentage from 60kph on up. More on that later.

I set all of the values on the Vehicle Speed Correction table to zero. Nothing changed. My speedo is still about 3mph optimistic. I'll do a second run to verify, but I think that I did things correctly.

As for the idle changes, the bike's startup behavior is back to what it was.
