Left turn signals work no problem. Right turn signals only work when the handlebars are turned to the left or to the right. Don't work when the handlebars are in or around the center position. Moving the wire loop by the steering head makes it work - must be a broken wire inside that loop (I already had to open it up twice because of other electrical issues). Question - does Buell utilise bi-metal flashers, and if so, can the flasher not work at all if the wire to the rear turn signal is broken and there isn't enough current drawn? Thank you! The 05-06 had problems with the wire loom at the left side of and possible short. There was an additional protective piece added to later years for protection from what I recall. Also, there is a ground wire bolted to frame under that wire loom under the headlight, make sure there's good connection here. I have an 06 that had similar troubles you are having, and have had to clean up my ground and get the extra part to protect the wires and all works good now. Hope that helps some.. |

Thanks Camp the ground is there alright, but why would it only cause problem for the right turn signals and not the left? The problems you were having - was it with all the turn signal lights or just on one side? And did it have to do with the position the handlebars were in? Thanks! It's been a bit so it's hard to remember, my turn signals weren't working at all I think. I made sure the wires were insulated and added the cover then re-soldered the ground and was good to go. Kind of generic info, maybe someone else here (Message edited by camp762 on July 11, 2018) (Message edited by camp762 on July 11, 2018) |

There is a couple of splices in the wiring bundle, at the steering head. You have to unwrap the upper part of the bundle, to find them. Many of us have had problems at these splices. They will probably look fine, but if you cut away the heat shrink, there may be a broken wire, at the splice. I believe the splice with brown wires is the right turn signal (on the '07, not sure about later years) |

Thanks Arry and Rays, I have little doubt that my problem is in this splice of brown wires. I just didn't realize that one broken connection can cause the flasher to stop working (as opposed to blinking twice as fast as in a burnt bulb scenario). Now my dilemma would be to either take the time to take the left fork out to get more clearance or to try to fix it with the fork leg on. |

Yep, brown wire. Chased the same down on my Uly a few weeks ago. Just not quite broken enough to not work all the time. Don't need to pull the fork off to get to it. Just a lot of unwrapping wire |

There are two triple wire splicers in the bundle. One is ignition power, the other right turn signal. You can unwrap the wires completely and they will look fine. They will break inside their heat shrink. Cut them out, add a length of wire to the bike side wire, run it up behind the fly screen and make your splices up there. Retape your wire bundle. Ride the snot out of it! |

Thanks guys! It will be my third time visiting that wire loop. First was trip odometer resetting (broken at the splice). Second was I think ignition wire or something else not working in certain handlebar position - that was tricky, as the wire was broken inside an intact insulation, took me some pulling on the wire to find that one. This will be a third time - at least if it's at the splice it's easy to find. I might actually try taking the fork out without removing the front wheel, just pull the axle out with the bike on the stand. It will give me more clearance for my hands and the soldering iron |

problem fixed. splice of brown wires had a bad connection. realized I didn't even need to take the fork leg out, just took the front axle out and dropped the left fork leg to the ground - that provided me with all the clearance I needed. thanks everyone |
