  Karoo 3 didn't make a front tire, so I used a small rear tire for the front. I have a tiny bit of rubbing on the mudguard that I'm trying to workout now but I put 30 miles on it without a problem. I think I should have reversed the rotation but my research says it can go either way. This way seems to be the best for street where if I was mostly dirt, I would turn it around. It handles well. My only complaint is the gyroscopic effect of all that rubber spinning around after 30mph. It takes much more effort to tip into a turn but it holds a line well. I only tested it on grass and it tracts well but no power slides yet! Street it tracts almost as good as any quality street tires with a slight hum at 40mph. | ||

Ever consider running a TKC80 on the front? I have run them for years on the front of my 1200GS and have been pleasantly surprised with how well they handle on the pavement, and its great offroad. I typically have matched it with a Heidenau K60 in the rear. Rode that combo all the way from PA to CO, rode a bunch of mtn passes, Jeep trails and such, then rode it home in 2 days at ~1000 miles per day. Not trying to shit on the Karoo, just asking? | ||

Oopezoo, I did look into the TKC80 but if I'm not mistaking, they are bias ply. I'm not a tire guru and this was more of an experiment but I can remember bias tires on my old sportster. It would catch every groove on the highway. I do have TKC80 on my Dirtster but that bike only sees 50mph.  | ||

I had to order a custom rear sprocket because Harley's can't go slow without burning the clutch none stop but it works and it was cheap  | ||

I experimented with this, inverted a Heidenau K60 130/80 rear on the front. Had to trim the sides with a knife to clear the forks, and sacrifice the mudguard. Worked alright for 5-6.000 km, but then started to wear fast. Had to replace by 11.000km, when it had become complete junk. The rear made about 15.000km, I found it very strange that the front was done with before the rear...   | ||

Awesome looking bike!!! That is very strange that the front wore that quick. I know I can hear the tire scrubbing the pavement when I brake hard but other than that I didn't notice any strange wear. Did you get the increased effort in turning at speed over 30mph like I did? The bike still handles well but it wants to track straight from the gyroscopic effect of all that rubber spinning. | ||

It sure made the whole thing heavier to handle with all that rubber spinning around. Never really saw much speed, cruising ~70mph as saving rubber and fuel autonomy had higher priority. I’m back on 90/10 tires on the front now, not really sure if it was worth the effort with this knobbie on the front. Experimenting now with a Heidenau K60 rear and a Metzeler Tourance Next front, doesn’t feel bad at all. Look stupid yea, but... |
