I got 7 years from one of these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000WJX4BQ/ref=psdc_4047 22011_t1_B00I87BG7I

And that was after repairing a hole, I drilled in the side, with JB Weld.
Don't ask...

But, for $55 you could take a chance...

I'm a fan of the yuasa batteries. I'm running the high output version now and love the starting power. Over $100 but worth it in my opinion.

I replaced my oem battery (yes...in my 06) with another Harley battery.

Last year.

Do NOT, under any circumstances, buy a Chinese battery unless you like being stuck and having to buy a replacement that doesn't suck.
Go with Yuasa, follow the initial charge instructions to the letter and be happy.
Harley did Buell no favors, why give them the money if you don't have to?

Steveford,
By your logic then, Erik Buell did Buell no favors by throwing in with Harley. I would say that your Uly would never had seen the light of day without Harley corporation. Quit blaming Harley for Erik Buell's decisions. Erik got in bed with Hero Motorcycles. That didn't turn out so well either. And then it was with another company and that went down the toilet. It's a tough business and now it is over and done. Harley is not the reason for Buell's demise. Buell being so niche and the wrong era is the reason. Erik needed to be born back around 1880 and then he would have had a better chance at his bikes being a success than being born in 1950.

I wasn't going to reply. I went and got a cup of columbian with organic blue agave and whipped cream. Today I am drinking another cup. "Harley did Buell no favors, why give them the money if you don't have to?" I have had very good luck with HD branded batteries. Other branded batteries have stranded me in cold weather. I don't hate HD. I do not like heavy bikes. I like a battery that works for years.

Walmart is selling Deltran Lithium Ion batteries. I bought the small 280cca for a little over @$100 . Weights barely 2lbs and has no problem firing up the Ulysses

It's true the Useless would not have come about if it wasn't for Harley and Erik's allies there.
We probably would not have seen most of the tube frame models, either. It's hard to make the leap from a barn to a factory.
The closure is ancient history but I choose to vote with my wallet.
I won't be buying a Hero, either, ha, ha.

Getting back on subject, posts over the past few years seem to indicate that the Harlee batteries aren't of the same quality as when our bikes were new.
I have Yuasa in all of my bikes, no problems.
I bought two bikes with Chinese batteries and both failed - one had the case buckle from heat and the other one just went from fine to 100% dead for no apparent reason.

I'm in the "why reinvent the wheel if you don't have to" camp. While I may not be thrilled with HD's politics, things like batteries, 10R12X plugs, and Syn3 have been working just fine in all my Buells since 1999. If it ain't broke...

I don't trust lithium-ion batteries as far as I can throw them. Too temperature sensitive (doorstops below about 40 degrees), need special chargers...again, why reinvent the wheel? I'm certainly not on a racetrack, so a couple pounds doesn't make a lick of difference to me. I eat a good meal while I'm on the road...and it's more of a weight difference than a lithium battery.

And I still say that the fact I don't monkey with crap on my bikes (like plugs, or batteries, or ECM's, or brake pad compounds) is the reason I get so many trouble free miles out of my Buells. I've raced my 2.2 turbo cars a LOT in the past - and they broke. I've got one that I still own, that I returned to bone-stock a few years ago...and it's dead-nuts reliable again. There's a reason the factory makes the choices they do. And for a couple of bucks at the parts counter...it's worth it to me to thumb the starter and have it fire up, every single time. And that goes for all of them, from my 22 year old S2 up to my 8 year old CR.

I bought a TUSK brand Lithium-Ion battery from RMMC 2 years ago and for my DRZ and love it. So light and powerful, no special chargers required. Fires up from sitting for 3 months. Love it.

I buy the HD battery for two reasons:

They seem to last 5+ years (I know, some haven't enjoyed the longevity that Ratbuell, Ourdee, et al, have reported)

The battery posts match up without having to bend or finagle or wrestle or cuss the battery cable connections. Some batts have a slight recess to their terminals which make it an unnecessary challenge to attach them. Yeah, its a little thing, I know.

I bought a Antigravity Batteries AG-1201 12-Cell Lithium Ion Motorcycle Battery 1.5 years ago. I have not had any issues even at all even below 32 degrees. I have a charger but have not had to use it, although I remove the battery and store it in the garage when out of town. The weight is nice but mostly it's size gives a lot more room for the battery connections and the ecm without rewiring it.

Been using the Shorai Lith Ion for over a year now, and it's still working great. Strong starts, good charge retention, and very light.

I read a lot of complaints about these batteries before I bought one, but I haven't experienced any of the negatives I read about.

Hd did not make me happy with their batteries. The factory battery in my Uly would never hold more than 12.4V even new right off the charger. In a year it would only maintain 12.2 fully charged.

The SM says have charge at 12.6V before testing components. I took it back for a new battery when at 12.2, it was barely starting. HD would do nothing. So I switched to AGM batteries from OReilly AP.

The AGM batteries give me two years of like it is new performance where it shows 12.6 consistently. Tends to drop off from there. So I install a new one in the Uly and switch that old one into the Blast where it cranks fine.

At 12.6 is still only 75% charged. max charge for a battery is 2.2 volts per a cell making 13.2 the batteries max charge.

My HD battery never got close. I charged it, load tested it, it failed. HD would not replace it even when only a couple months old.

I worked out a start load test with a volt meter to determine how bad it could get and still start the bike.

While activating the starter voltage readings below 9.6 volts is about the limit. If voltage drops lower it might barely crank over, but it will not have enough power to energize the ECM to light it up anyways.
