My 2009 xb12x has a slight downward slope and I've reworked the seat, adjusted the fork height and I'm still smashing the family jewels on the AC cover. This purple or black spring says it lowers the bike an inch but does it change the ride much? Is it firmer, softer or about the same? | ||

I would depend on how the spring is wound and with what diameter wire. What does the seller say? | ||

My 2008 was a bit jewel-crushy with the original seat. I swapped it with the original tall 2006 seat it's taller and more level. You say yours is reworked? How so? | ||

I tried the later model seats on my '06 having the same results. They made the seat,narrower dipping towards the air box cover to lower the reach distance to the ground. It was a compromise without having to change the design of the bike. This is why several folks gave up on the idea of having two feet flat on the ground when stopped. All day riding comfort was more important to some. Several late model Uly owners have replaced their stock seats with the up graded ' 06 stock seat. | ||

Etennuly, so you are say to buy an older 2006-07 seat or just use the talk seat? I have the tall seat already and it's ok for softness but still puts me into the AC cover. I was hoping someone tried this Hyperpro spring before I spend $130 and put hours of work into this. They have a similar kit for the older Ulysesses that replaces the fork spring and lowered the entire bike 22mm The sad part is I'm 6'2" and I have no problem with the height. It's just the seat! The second I give it gas or if I have a passenger, the seat is perfect! My butt leans back and it fits like a glove. Unloaded and that extra inch rolls me forward. | ||

The '06 stock tall seat is flatter topped to the air box cover, kind of rectangular from the passenger area forward. Late '07 on they tapered the rider seat area to make it narrower for easier ground reach, but in my opinion a nut cruncher. I will see if the seat comparison pictures can still be found. | ||
