I know where there are several wrecked XB12 of differing models. Are the drive belts and idler pulley setups the same between them all? I'm thinking of seeing if I can get a couple of the belts if they will let them go at traditional junkyard prices; not the "how much can we get on ebay or craigslist?" prices. In my mind a used belt off of a wrecked bike shouldn't cost more than 20 or 30 bucks. Thoughts? |

Probably should have mentioned that the target bike is an 08 XB12XT. |

Besides the obvious XB12X I think any of the long swing arm bikes are the same. Someone else will chime in but my understanding was the xb9 has a smaller diameter tensioner pulley but the belt is still is too small for our X and XT. Reach out to Phelan . He has a pretty good stash of used parts for sale and knows his stuff! |

All of the Xb12X, XT, XP, SS, STT use the same belt. Belts from S, R, Sx, Scg, Sl, or 1125s will not work due to length differences. |

Froggy, Aren't all the XB 12 and 9 tensioners the same? |

Ourdee, the short answer is no, as the 2003 XB9 had an entirely different belt setup. Ignoring that one oddity, I'm not sure about the rest. When I was looking for a tensioner a few weeks ago I found out the long wheelbase bikes have a different part number than the short wheelbase, but I'm not sure the actual difference. |

While you're there, see if they'll let an engine go at junk yard prices. |
