I rode my son's 07' Uly for about 70 miles yesterday out in the country around Omaha and my butt was practically on fire. Whenever I've gone on a trip with a ULY I've always had a sheep's pelt between me and the seat and that has always been the difference between spontaneous combustion or not. Personally that was a major design flaw of the ULY and that mostly stems from that enshrouded engine top. Great bike for tooling around town or for when the weather gets much cooler but that heat is not healthy to the boys. And I always have had the tall seat. Can't imagine what the heat must feel like riding one of the shorter seats. Ouch! | ||

Try beaded seat covers like the taxi drivers use. I got mine from wallymart for under $15. Flop it up over the rear backrest and tie it down. Look absolutely awful though  | ||

Even with the comfort kit and updated fan logic, my seat (I have both a regular 07 seat and a "low" 06 seat) still gets blazing hot. I need to go back and seal the frame openings in the frame above the rear rocker cover; I had sealed those with HVAC aluminum tape previously and that was a significant improvement. I remember early in Uly history getting into some "heated" discussions with 06 riders saying those of us complaining about the heat were wimps; the heat wasn't that bad. I think the tall vs. the lower seats makes a HUGE difference in the heat transmitted to the rider. I'll bet in 2011 or 2012 Buell would have had a better update to this arrangement to keep the hot air away from the seat. I'd be interested to see if they had already worked something like this out; maybe it's something we could figure out how to do. | ||

Sealing the openings is key. The header temp. on mine near the openings was over 600 degrees f. | ||

The Tall seat does make a big difference. Since I put the Comfort Kit on the heat issue went away from the seat. I still have to spread my legs once in a while to cool them down but it sure feels good on a chilly morning! | ||

Are ya'll wearing jeans? My'06 runs hot most of the time. But wearing shorts under mesh riding pants i have not had heated bottom issues even with the low seat. Wearing jeans alone or shorts alone cannot be done for long at all! | ||

in the 3 years I've owned my 06 I have put 30k on with the high (normal) seat and 15k with the low seat. No comfort kit or extra heat tape. I have definitely noticed the heat but I wouldn't say it was "bad". The thing that gets me is when the fuel starts off-gassing and I think I am about to burst into flames. Probably at least half those miles were on 100+ degree days. I think you are all just a bunch of girls | ||

Idk how much it changed over the years but my 09 with the comfort kit doesn't throw any heat at all unless you are standing behind it with the fan on. I have a low, med and tall seat with very little difference between them. The low will get warm when the bike is parked for a few mins. I will say it's sealed up tight between the seat tray and up over the shock but for me it is turning into a PITA because I have to change an 02 sensor. | ||

I have an 09 with the tall seat and no comfort kit, and I never feel any uncomfortable heat in the ass. The inner thighs however, the air that comes out the side vents can get pretty roasty. | ||

I think the right side scoop on the comfort control kit partially blocks that heat from coming out the side. I do know it really helps pump air directly to that area to keep temps down. |
