Since the Touratech skid plates have been discontinued for quite some time and I doubt they're ever going to make them again, what's the interest in a batch run of them being custom made? I have access to a full machine shop with waterjets and whatever else I need to make them. I can do them up either bare aluminum (1/8" thick plate) or possibly even powdercoated in black. Cost should be under $200. A run of 10 or more would be preferred to offset design costs. I'll be posting this in multiple places to get some exposure. |

Dean: If you make them I would be interested in one . . .if only to display in the new Buell Museum. I've started hanging prototypes of various parts, S1 brake rotors, that we tried and never used and am preparing to begin looking for some "projects and suggestions sent to the factory by owners). Will we be able to jack the bike up via this skid plate? |

Essentially it bolts to the chin fairing locations on the stock exhaust, so I would assume you'd be able to do so. I will definitely be proceeding with this, I have the main skid plate on the way from a generous Bueller to use for the bolt hole locations, etc. I'll figure out the oil cooler piece after the main section is done. It also looks like some of them had a center piece that went from the front of the muffler up to the tie bar bracket. I'm assuming they're optional parts, but I'll look into getting it all made. I got a somewhat firm quote on the main skid plate for now based on pictures and rough dimensions, we'll see what it does to the price when I add more stuff on. It appears there may be at least mild interest in having these made, I'll probably start with a run of 10-20 of them to see who's really serious about it. If I need more later, then it won't be an issue getting them done. |

Also, it *could* be done in stainless steel, although that would be a significant weight increase over aluminum. |

O.k. thanks for answering my questions, I'd be interested in buying one. The skid plate on my Triumph Explorer is aluminum and it's pretty strong for the type of riding one would do on that bike. (Message edited by njloco on April 24, 2017) |

I'm soooo into this! I like the aluminum idea, 'cause getting it hard anodized might be neat, but Stainless is cool too, for all the reasons stainless is neat. |

Dean, Id be interested in one but would like to know where your located so I could get an idea of shipping. I was shocked when Madstat charged me $65 to ship a piece of acrylic! Are you in MO? Is your design similar to the tour tech? Rob |

Ok, took the loaner skidplate to the machine shop today, I *might* get lucky and get a possible prototype by tomorrow. I'll set up a page to buy them from if this works out. The one I get tomorrow will just be bare aluminum, just need to see how it looks when it's finished. Current interested headcount here is approximately 11. |
