My 08 XT has 32,000mi... if the seller is on the up n up, ask if he upgraded the rear wheel to the 2010 3 bearing model. If not if he has changed the bearings. I had to change mine in the original rear wheel 2 seasons ago. Last year I had charging issues, resulted in a new battery, new voltage regulator, and ultimately a new stator. A few years ago the shift ramp inside the primary cover began to shear off, I ended up buying a new primary cover. That's my 2 cents. Good Luck, fun bike to ride.

Look for the usual stuff, leaks, damage, wear & tear. Check the ECU to see if it's relocated or has rub marks on the plugs. Check the front engine mount and muffler mounts if stock. Hopefully you can ride it. You can see how well the engine runs, check clutch operation and make sure you can pull a load in each gear. Lastly, you could check for blink codes to see if there were any issues within the last 50 key cycles, or an honest owner will just tell you what they did anyhow. Try not to smile too much after the ride, it ruins your bargaining position.
